Haven’t We Already Done Enough Damage in Iraq?

In 2006, I invited the late General Bill Odom to address my Thursday Congressional luncheon group. Gen. Odom, a former NSA director, called the Iraq war "the greatest strategic disaster in American history," and told the surprised audience that he could not understand why Congress had not impeached the president for pushing this disaster on the United States. History continues to prove the General's assessment absolutely correct.

In September, 2002, arguing against a US attack on Iraq, I said the following on the House Floor:

No credible evidence has been produced that Iraq has or is close to having nuclear weapons. No evidence exists to show that Iraq harbors al Qaeda terrorists. Quite to the contrary, experts on this region recognize Hussein as an enemy of the al Qaeda and a foe to Islamic fundamentalism.

Unfortunately, Congress did not listen.

Congress listened, all right. To the weapons manufacturers that bribed them.
After all, THEIR kids went to Harvard.
YOUR kids went to war and came home in a box. Or VERY angry. Or only partially there.
Keep cheering. I know YOUR "guy" WANTED to send his kids over there, but thought it would be better if he became a lobbyist.
For the weapons manufacturers.
How's that cheering working out for you now??? USA! USA! USA!!! Just make sure your sons sign up for the (very) Selective Service. We're not done attacking third world countries yet and of course, there's ALWAYS "terrorists" just waiting to blow up a building or a plane (like ANY of THAT could destroy the USA) so we can completely and irrevocably recind the Constitution and replace it with the Patriot Act. Nice name, huh?
Oh wait. Sorry. We've done that already....
Don't stop cheering. You may end up with some free time for actual thinking....

715, nice try at deflection. I believe Obama was one of the few in congress willing to stand up to the war crowd before and during this whole debacle.

813-Obama was in the Senate for a whole TWO YEARS before he ran for President.

Dick Cheney and many of the former presidents buddies made millions on the Iraq war.
Nothing will ever change the middle east (with the exception of a nuclear war head)
The only thing the people in the middle east hate more than americans are each other.
The fighting will never stop... Has always been and will forever be

People wake up.. these are the people who flew planes into buildings in NY and DC... these people want to wipe the infidel off of the map. You need to focus on the long term and the protection of our country... They will be back!
