LOWE'S SHOPPERS BE AWARE - PART 2

Thank you for publishing the story about crime at LOWE'S HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE on Sussex Hwy., in Seaford, Delaware. There are additional informations that came to light and they are quite disturbing. As I mentioned previously there were 2 seperate occurances of crime in the same area of Commercial Parking lot near Entrance/Exit of LOWES Lumber Dept. I will give Timeline and Info on these events, We have been told there is ongoing investigation on the matter, so we will not be revealing any names at this time. Monday March 24, 2014 Crime #1 between 12:45 pm to 1;15 pm Male customer reports his 2 Nail-Guns were stolen from his truck which was parked at the above mentioned location, while he was inside the store. It is unknown if the nailguns were stolen from inside the truck or from the pickup bed, but we know he was in the store for only 15 mins. We would like this gentleman to provide more info on this and send us an email on address provided below. Crime #2 between 2:45 pm to 3:31 pm Another male customer Mr. M. parks his vehicle Chevrolet Cargo Van with attached trailer into the same parking lot and into the same spot. He locks all doors except back panel door which is facing LOWES STORE, about 20 feet from their Sliding Glass Door. He goes inside. Whle inside picking through lumber, he notices something odd or strange, but doesn't think much of it and continues his shopping. He pays for his purchase at 3:31 at the checkout and walks outside and immediatelly notices the Back Panel Door of his van is swung wide open. The large Air Compressor which was tied with bungee cord has been stolen. He notices the handle on the trailer is also bent which confirms his suspicion of Compressor being pulled and carried out the back door. He also noticed that one vehicle which was parked nearby is not there and left. That vehicle is model 1998-2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Extended Cab, two-tone dark red & silver, presumably with DE tag. After speaking with LOWE'S employees in the area, Seaford Police is contacted and their Officer X. writes the report of the incident. At 4:46 pm customer Mr. M. receives phone call from female Manager of Lowes in Seaford, thanking him for his business and sorry for his loss, and informing him THERE IS NO SURVEILLANCE TAPE AVAILABLE. Next day Mr. M. calls and speaks with Seaford Police Officer X., who confirms there is no surveillance tape, because he was told 'THE CAMERA WAS TURNED IN OPPOSIITE DIRECTION, THEREFORE THERE IS NO RECORDING FOR ALL DAY'. So, based on the information we have, we have decided to seek legal help on this matter, We welcome any legal advice to send email to MartinKing40@aol.com Update -- We have unconfirmed report about similar crime happened in Salisbury on Tuesday March 25th, this time perpetrators broke into locked vehicle.

You people need to invest in a Trunk Monkey.When you see him running around the parking lot with an arm or a leg in his hand you'll know someone tried to break in to your vehicle.

Ok so an unlocked vehicle and you want to blame the store? How about taking some responsibility for your own actions. No sympathy for you.

Free legal advice-lock your doors! What is all that garbage you posted supposed to prove? You left your car unlocked and stuff got stolen, the cameras didn't capture it. The store isn't required to provide security footage of every square inch of the property and don't have to have cameras at all. So who exactly are you seeking free legal advice against?

Stop with the lock the door mentality. While I get the point, it still doesn't give anyone the right to invade another's space and take something that does not belong to them. While it is always a good idea to lock vehicle doors, blaming the victim isn't going to solve the problem. Then it becomes the matter of at what point to do stop blaming the victim? If I'm in my home and my door happens to be unlocked that gives someone the right to just open the door, come in and remove items? Or if I have something on my front porch am I supposed to chain and lock everything up? Get over the "should have" mentality. No one ever ever has the right to open someone's vehicle whether the door is lock or not and steal out of it.

Blame the owner of the truck not the thief because it ok to steal and yes he should have lock his truck.

No it doesn't give someone the right to take things but why should the store be responsible? The post was obviously looking for a free ride off of the store's dime, which by the way comes out of the consumers pockets.

3:02-Can you point me in the right direction? I fail to see where the writer is "obviously looking for a free ride off of the store's dime."
Maybe I'm assuming too much but it appears to me the writer is looking for answers as to why no surveillance and why the camera was turned in the opposite direction.
Myself as a consumer would prefer if the store were more diligent and would feel safer and more secure if they did a visual sweep of the exterior cameras several times a day as well as making sure via monitors that they were all filming properly. Let's not forget, we as consumers are paying for the store's security so shouldn't we not only expect but demand ordinary reasonable care is been taken to protect us as well as our property while we are spending our money in their store?

1:04 If someone was on inside tipping someone on the outside, would that change your perspective? Did LOWES Management took any action after the 1st incident? NO. BTW, another steal from the vehicle went down in similar fashion day later, this time LOWES in Salisbury.

If the store's security is so lacking that they don't even know a camera is turned around then most likely there are other breeches in security and the store is getting ripped off right and left, which is coming out of consumers pockets as well.

For real 3:37. Wouldn't common sense dictate that as soon as the first vehicle break in was reported the store would have checked their cameras that monitor the parking areas and in doing so would have realized one (maybe more) was turned?

I never lock my truck at Lowes, HD, Wawa or anywhere else and if it it is hot, I leave it running with the AC on. I pity the fool that opens one of the doors. One of the best theft deterrents is a 100+ lb. dog that firmly believes that my truck is his. A few years ago, a police officer was prepared to issue me a ticket for leaving my truck running in the parking lot until I asked if I could retrieve my registration /insurance and he said that I could open the door but he would retrieve it from the center console. Priceless was the look on his face when he attempted to reach in the truck!!! Lucky for both of us, the dog was in the backseat (quad cab) and not up front. After he regained the color in his face, we agreed that there was not a problem here and went our separate ways.

Could it be some Lowes people are involved? Just thinking since surveillance cameras seem to be either not working or in the wrong place.

This is just a guess
But the people who return the carts could know that parking spot is not under surveillance and it is a easy target for them. Pawns off a 500.00 air compressed for 125.00. Adds 3.00/ hour to their minimum wage that week tax free.
1 theft from that spot is random but two is suspicious
