SALISBURY, Md. -- Salisbury University says a fraternity suspended after accusations of hazing a pledge has violated its suspension by continuing to recruit members and will have to wait even longer to return to campus.
Salisbury University says Sigma Alpha Epsilon will be off campus until summer 2015 because it violated its suspension, and it will be on probation through summer 2017. The fraternity will be eligible for a review in the summer of 2015 to determine if it can return in the fall of 2015. The fraternity's original year and a half suspension was supposed to be up for review this semester.
The fraternity's national headquarters says it has suspended the chapter's charter. University officials say the charter was not suspended two years ago when the university initiated sanctions against the fraternity.

Kudos to SU personnel for holding firm with their decision and enforcing it. Do you know that alumnus Scarborough has decided to withhold a $2M gift to the SU foundation because he is angered by the decision? Scarborough is a former member of the frat. Well, SU just told him to take his baseball, bat and glove and go home!!! It took strength to do that as costs rise and the coffers diminish.
I belonged to a fraternity at Maryland in the late 60's/early 70's. We were founded on a no hazing policy on January 1 1869 at VMI because the other local fraternity did haze. There is no reason for any type of hazing and SAE is now paying the price.
Now they are on double secret probation
Very disappointing to see this. The SU SAE chapter was once a shining star on campus and in the community. If the current group of members did the things they are accused of, then the suspension is appropriate.
