Frederick Police Officer Arrested On Assault Charge

A Frederick police officer faces a second-degree assault charge in Garrett County, according to Richard Hetherington, deputy city police chief.

Benjamin Whitmore, a 2009 graduate of the Frederick Police Academy, has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of a criminal investigation conducted by the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

Frederick police will also investigate, according to a news release issued Tuesday night.

“We will do an internal investigation, and we will see how that goes,” Hetherington said in a telephone interview.

John Q. citizen (without a badge) gets arrested for shoplifting and he gets his picture in the paper with details.
A COP gets arrested and no details are released and why isn't he worried? Because the criminal investigation and the INTERNAL investigation will be done by......wait for it.....OTHER COPS.
If cops around the country can beat, rob, rape, murder, steal, extort, and sell drugs and be exonerated ("we were afraid", or "she asked me to sex her up a bit", or "he gave us some smart aleck talk") by, you guessed it, OTHER cops, than you can believe this cop thinks he's golden --- just lay around the house, watch some TV, wait for direct deposit, and think about how sweet it is to be "investigated" by your "brothers". Who wants to bet anything on the outcome of the "investigation"?
