Murray Warns GOP: Democrats 'Will Not Negotiate' Debt Limit

Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray is standing firm against concessions in exchange for raising the debt limit.

The Washington Democrat planned to issue a letter Friday saying her party will not meet any demands by the GOP to tie an increase in the debt limit to other budget issues, Politico reported Friday.

"We will not negotiate over whether or not the United States of America should pay its bills," Murray writes in the letter obtained by Politico. "And once again, before they get any further down this damaging path, we call on our Republican colleagues to not play politics with our economic recovery."

If I write a bad check , say, for oh, $20,000, I WILL be arrested and face jail/prison time.
Our 'leaders" write bad checks, in the MILLIONS of dollars, and make it a issue of "honor and integrity". What!!??
How does that happen? Oh, right.
You VOTED them into office and said you were good with that.
That's why you have them (in EVERY legislative session, Democrats AND AND AND Republicans) voting FOR new taxes, fines, fees,& surcharges. I am, of course, not talking about "your guy". He's the lone wolf, fighting like crazy against the system that's turning him into a multi-millionaire, or adding to his already humongous portfolio.
But he's got you convinced its everyone else that's spending so criminally. And you fall for it.
Keep cheering.

1:37 no one is throwing millions of unemployed under the bus, they still get at least six months of unemployment, the issue is ending the so called EMERGENCY unemployment extensions which began when Barack took office. The emergency needs to end. Of course unless you think people should just get unemployment forever which creates another entitlement.
