Md. House Passes Gun Control Measure

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland's House of Delegates approved a major gun control measure Wednesday to ban assault weapons, require people who buy handguns to provide their fingerprints and limit gun magazines to 10 bullets.

The House voted 78-61 for the bill, one of Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley's priorities for the legislative session scheduled to end at midnight Monday. All 78 votes in support of the bill came from Democrats, while 18 Democrats joined all 43 Republicans in the chamber to vote against it.

While there are differences between the House and Senate that will need to be reconciled before the Legislature could send the measure to O'Malley for his signature, the main parts supported by gun control advocates remained intact. They included the fingerprint requirement, which opponents repeatedly tried to take out of the measure. Lawmakers in the Senate and the House, both with strong Democratic majorities, rejected amendments that would have stripped the provision.

New York State has had your finger print, your photo on your carry permit, and the serial number(s) of your carry gun(s)on it for as long as I can remember, maybe as long as the Sullivan Law has been in effect. Have those things that only affect the law-abiding citizen had any effect on reducing crime?? ANS: NO! Criminals do not apply for handgun carry permits!!!!!!!

I doubt it. A few independents, maybe. People can't agree on any one thing, and they really don't care about anyone but themselves. They post it in their comments time after time.

Too mean spirited and self centered. Rely on yourself, nobody else.

Agreed. They like to talk the talk but can't do the walk. They talk big and bad on a computer, and at their local bar and chicken plant, but really, they will run like the scared rabbits they are when the SHTF.

Matter of fact, they are already talking about running away. No place left for them to run to but let them go. We need REAL people. Not phony plastic types.

So, when the perps breaks through my door and meets my 30 round AK, will they be able to say,"Hey, you're not playin' fair!" Well, they might get out the "Hey" part...

I would rather have leftover rounds than a dry magazine any day. Take your new law and shove it. I'm selling all my registered guns and going unregistered.
