USPS & UPS Team Up
The Postal Service says add blue to brown and you get green. It formally has launched a partnership with rival delivery service UPS, the folks in brown. The Postal Service has to provide door-to-door service, which isn't profitable for companies. It is carrying many UPS packages through its so-called last-mile network. In turn, UPS is letting the Postal Service ship mail on company airplanes and trucks. The Postal Service said the partnership helps customers, the environment and the agency's bottom line.

This is not new. It started at least a year ago which means it is part of their winning formula to keep losing money. It certainly saves the UPS money but how does that equate to more profit by the USPS?

10:26 - USPS calculates Profit by comparing current Loss to Previous Loss. Lose less then that's a profit. Did you go to private school or something?
Fed EX has been doing this for years.
I don't understand this at all. I have had packages shipped by both UPS and FedEx that are delivered to the UPSP and they bring them to my home. The Fedex truck and UPS truck come right by my house every day. So how is it cheaper for them to deliver the packages to my house using the UPSP then for them to actually stop here.
UPS can certainly turn around USPS
1:01PM because UPS/Fedex are profitable when they delivery to businesses where they deliver multiple (frequently heavier) packages to the same business, and there's someone there to sign during business hours.
No imagine someone who gets a package every month or 2 in Bivalve, or Pepperbox, etc. It's probably going to only 1 or 2 lbs, so not much profit, or it'll be a high dollar item that they have to either risk leaving or leave a note and come back multiple times b/c not home etc. It's a total PIA for them and not profitable.
Meanwhile the USPS delivers to every address, everyday, and those 1 or 2 lbs packages might even fit in the mailbox. If they have to leave a note, the post office is in their local town for pickup, you don't have to drive to Salisbury or Harrington to pick it up.
I have frequently came home to find a box from ups on my doorstep.
They don't always need someone to sign for a package.
