O’Malley, Ehrlich Camps Unite In Maryland Campaign Against Federal Debt

They squared off against one another in two bitter statewide campaigns, but loyalists of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and former governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) have found a cause on which they can lock arms: federal debt reduction.

Former aides to the two governors will be among those announced at an event in Baltimore on Monday as steering committee members of the Maryland Campaign to Fix the Debt, according to organizers. The Maryland chapter is part of a national movement to convince politicians in Washington to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff” and address the nation’s long-term debt.

Michael R. Enright, a former O’Malley chief of staff, and Chip DiPaula Jr., a former Ehrlich chief of staff and budget secretary, are both taking part.

O'Malley is going to pull a Jim Ireton and pretend he's a fiscal conservative?

I do not trust O'Malley at all.

I have watched him take this years flush tax money - (by the way it doubled from $30 to $60) - 72 million and divert it from the Chesapeake Bay into the General Treasury fund.

Then I watched him take 324 million dollars in Federal Stimulus money and diverted that to prop-up the unfunded school teachers pension fund. I can tell you alot more. And Ehrlich is not any better. He was the one who passed and signed on to the flush tax to begin with.

IMHO - I think they are both scandrels.

I'll tell you something else O'Malley did - he increased certain vital records fees from $12 to $24 and increased dramatically the
Office of Administrative Hearings fee for appeals of a driver’s license
suspension or revocation.

How about O'Malley using a special session in 2007 to raise taxes and fees, including a sales tax increase from 5 cents to 6 cents, a corporate income tax increase from 7 percent to 8.5 percent and an increase in motor vehicle title registration fees from $23 to $50.

Ehrlich did increase private sector jobs by almost 100,000. He balanced the budget after "inheriting" a large budget deficit. I didn't have a problem with the $30 flush tax as long as it was being used for it's purpose: The Chesapeake Bay Restoration Act which yes of course Omalley saw fit to steal from.
The bottom line-Democrats have created hugh financial messes wherever they go.
Responsiblity is a stranger to them.
