I was one of the people who lost their job do not know how my family will survive this job closing. I never thought I would see the day this would happen. I guess nothing is a given anymore there is no stability in the job market anymore. I can only pray that me and my family make it through this terrible tragedy. Thanks Obama another one bites the dust!

This only the beginning.

When will the people who are supporting our current administration wake up to the reality of the disaster they have caused??????

1:36, yourself and the other 65 people who are now finding themselves out of work need to write an open letter to omalley demanding to know where to apply for all the jobs he says he is responsible for creating. Do this ASAP. Do not wait. omalley makes the claim of having created 2 1/2 times more jobs in MD then were created in VA so putting you folks back in the workforce should be a simple task.

WHy blame Obama? Whay not blame the business owner? This is a free market society and the sucessful win, the unsucessful lose. Maybe, just maybe the owners and managers of this business made bad decisions.

1:36, I'm really sorry for you and the others. I am always sad when Americans lose their jobs.

I was under the impression that Independence Construction Materials bought American Paving and David A. Bramble. Are they closing these businesses completely, or bringing in their own employees?

Anonymous said...

2:07 Pm I can assure you that the managers of this business had nothing to do with the closing they have been there for over 25 years. Just who do you blame again and again local businesses are folding and it is nothing the managers are doing. You are a idiot!

Obama is pleased with American Pavings closing and lose of jobs its all part of his plan to destroy the American economy.

Obama is to blame because alot of businesses this size will close due to Obamacare. They won't even attempt to downsize and will just close and lock the doors. Some large corporations and unions are exempt but those employees will still have to buy insurance out of their pockets now and be responsible for the full amount because entities can be exempt but individuals can't be.

2:07pm you are an idiot. Gases prices are higher, less jobs then when Obama became President. Obama is a liar and you people who vote for him our idiots.

Several Anons:
If the business owner didn't make good decisions and if the state, county and local jurisdictions didn't hire them for their projects, that could all end up closing any business.
Before you go to the top for blame, you should start at the bottom and work your way up.
You make it sound like Obama closed their doors with a signed letter.

You can blame a large part of this on the democrats stealing the HUR funds from the conties that mainly end up in paving projects tha keep places like American Paving. 2:18, it is American Infrastructure. Many of these private industry companies were making money hand over fist during the boom. They are all part of the blame of the costs of homes becoming so high. The cost of Hot Mix Asphalt has gone from 30 dollars a ton ten years ago, to as much as $75 today.

I agree with 2:07. I am a business owner who was primarily a home builder. I cannot blame Obama, Bush or others. I did not make the shift to commercial or government contracts quick enough. That was a bad decision. I have since made better decisions and the business is turning around.

American Infrastructure, which is based out of PA, bought American Paving Corp.,...not David A. Bramble. Only a dozen employees or so got a job with AI. So yes, for the most part, they have thier own employees.

Trust it was NOT a choice...NOW YOU FIGURE OUT... WHAT HAS CHANGED IN THE LAST 3.5 YRS??? THERE IS YOUR ANSWER....SIMPLE!!!

Want to know where we are headed?
Read "The Real Crash" by Peter Schiff. There is a copy in Wico library.

I am so sorry that these individuals have lost their jobs. This is horrible. I will pray that they will all find work and that they can survive for a little while on unemployment. It's just so sad. These guys work hard and it's not an easy job. Best wishes to all of you.

There are no jobs to even bid on out there. Those that bid on others have to bid at survival prices. When the jobs are over and nothing more is out there, you have to close your doors.

Just remember, Obama claims the business owners didn't build it, so how could they have destroyed it? Typic DUMBOCRAT double talk! Idiots like 2:07 are the problem with this country.

A couple of days ago I read where the US is sending aid to 150 countries.I think was in SBY News, but I'm not 100% sure.Issues like this business closing clearly indicate a loss of priorities. If anyone helps the US it's in the form of a loan.If our resources were focused inwardly as they should be ths kind of thing would not happen.

ML Blades closed also,a construction business around for more than 50 years and Im sure it was'nt because they made bad decisions.

2:07 I agree with everyone calling you an idiot. I lost my job 2 years ago due to the bad economy and people not spending money anymore. Obama has done nothing but put us further in debt which makes the stock brokers scared to buy anything. Now on top of that, we will suffer even more with Obamacare. It will either make us spend more on insurance or fine us for not having it. "Change" and "forward" only came true because we have changed for the worse and we moved forward further down the toilet. I am truely sorry for American Paving and all of the now jobless people that will suffer. I will pray for them all.

5:01 is exactly right.Since Obama has been in projects dry up instantly-there is no time to change your business plan in this economy. Its like those in charge in Washington and Annapolis want this to happen.

Anonymous said...

Its people like 2:07 that will keep democrats in power.

Anonymous said...

6:28 hit the nail on it's head. Another one of Obama's failed policies was to prop up the stock market. His stupid arse thinks that if the investors are making money they will spend money. Investors are pocketing the money because they know inflation is on it's way. People with money are not spending it because of Obama's goofy thinking and that has trickled down on small business. That's one thing about Mitt Romney-he knows and understands financial matters.

What an Icon on the Shore. There are no words to say that makes anything any better. You guys had a wonderful business that welcomes all the minor competitors and even threw them jobs. It was so good to see you out there professionally doing the hard work that frankly, I could not do. Bless all of you. Maybe things will turn around in the next FIVE WEEKS!

It sounds like they were just bought out by another company and they are bringing in their own employees.

Sounds more like a merger than a closing.

The people out of work probably don't care what it's called. They out of a job.

Anonymous said...

So the owner of the business decided to sell his business to another company. The other company chose to only keep a few employees and bring their own in. That's called business. At Bain capital that is what mitt Romney did. Bought companies, downsized payrolls and outsourced jobs. How is obamas fault. Maybe the original owner should take some of the money and give severance packages or had a clause to retain original employees

So sad, my heart goes out to those who lost their jobs. I am sorry to hear of another business going down in Salisbury. I don't recognize the city I grew up in when I go back to visit.

I don't know when the american public will wake-up.

Look - this country has not had a president in office for the last 4 years. Obama's policies - or lack thereof - can directly be attributed to what happened to American Paving.

The government regulations are suffocating these businesses. There is no incentive to work as Obama has more incentives for them not to work. It's called SOCIALISM.

Guess what - we are now living under socialist rule.

Congratulations SBYnews for such great coverage. I cannot over emphasize the significance of your organization and reporting.

You truly are a great service for our Tri-County area.

Yeah, that surprised me too that those things were not done by the previous owner.

So much for caring about your employees and neighbors.

HEy former employees of American Paving....welcome to the 47%.

American Paving was bought by David A. Bramble a few years ago. Bramble sold the AP division to American Infrastructure. AI is quickly taking over the paving business in the area, which has been time and time again. They did not need the Eden plant, which has not really operated in a year or so. AI simply took over a competitor, then closed it down.

Anonymous said...

Stop blaming the Obama administration. This was not their fault. Your owner sold out to a competitor and ran away with the money from that sale. Start blaming the American Paving owner and his greed! That is why you lost your job.

Anonymous said...

So, if Obama can't blame Bush, can Romney (if elected) blame Obama???

to 4:20 p.m. I'm getting ready to feel that pain. I am being foreclosed on and its all over a couple thousand dollars.
