MUSLIM WOMAN SUES DISNEY FOR NOT ALLOWING HER TO WEAR HER HIJAB TO WORK

Imane Boudlal, a former hostess at a Disney-owned restaurant is suing the company, claiming that she was not allowed to wear her Islamic headscarf while at work. According to her lawsuit, which was filed on Monday, Boudlal says that when she showed up wearing her hijab, she was told to take it off. If she chose not to do so, her other options were to stay out of customers’ sights or — to go home.
According to The Daily Mail  , the issue took form in 2010 when the woman was working at Storyteller Café inside Disney’s Grand California Hotel. She had learned while taking her U.S. citizenship exam that it is permissible for her to wear a head scarf to work and, thus, she decided to start doing so. While she hadn’t yet enjoyed this supposed right during her first two years working at the restaurant, she subsequently began wearing it to work.

Nobody forces them to move here. Follow our rules, or stay there.

11:37,

How American of you.

It's very American. If you don't like your employer's rules, you're perfectly free to seek employment anywhere.

If they were telling her she couldn't wear rosary beads you all would be up in arms about how it is anti christian.

lol. So I guess businesses should also outlaw the cross hanging around millions of peoples' necks. Or how about a no nuns allowed sign on the front door.

Disney's fault for hiring her to start with.

So she works for two years with no head dress and suddenly walks in one day with it becsuse she learned in some class it was her "right". I think that would alarm me as an employer toio. Kudos disney management!!!!

Go by the rules of the business, or go work some place else. Just another liberal trouble maker.

Seriously? Disney has very strict appearance rules for its employees right down to acceptable forms of facial hair for men. I can't believe she was shocked by the fact they wouldn't let her wear it. It is less of a uniform for employees and more of a "costume". They are called cast members after all and are expected to play a part and create an atmosphere. If she wants to wear it work, she may have to look for another job.

If they prohibited ANYTHING not involving Mickey or Pluto or character de jour, I'd not be up in arms about it. Their biz, their call.
You no playa da game, you no makea da rules.

Suppose she saw money" in the making. Crazy lady. When you're hired by someone---you do what is ask of you or else leave---find another job.

Nothing but an attention seeker. Had no problem working there for 2 yrs not wearing the scarf. She's got her 15 minutes of fame now time for her to either go away or blend into the melting pot. Everyone's getting tired of these immigrants expecting us to conform to the new "ingredients" they keep adding.

Or she could go back to her country and start asking for permission to go outside, drive a car, or speak to another male. Get burned alive, maybe. Or beat to death for complaining about all the "rights" she SHOULD have. Go Disney!

They did the same thing to Target. They were hired as cashiers then after months they decided hey..... I don't want to touch pork now.
This sounds like a money grab to me. It wasn't important enough for her to wear it for 2 years now all of a sudden she wants to sue. I hope they tell her to go pound sand.

Rules are rules and they are to be followed not by some, but by all. If she doesn't like the rule; return to her homeland, or find employment elsewhere. Our country has swung too far left for these people. These people want to come to this country for all the freedoms and the money they can make and then kill and bomb the very people who tried to help them gain freedom and democracy for themselves. They should not be allowed to be in this country period.

I agree with Disney's decision. Don't like it, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out (OF THE COUNTRY). Live by "our" rules or take your scarf & go back home. I'm so sick of everything having to change to suit a particular sect (no matter if it's religous, ethnic, color, whatever).
