With lawmakers due
to return to Annapolis Monday for a special session to consider a tax
and revenue package, Governor Martin O'Malley, Senate President Mike
Miller and House Speaker Michael Busch will offer details of the
package, at a news conference in Annapolis Wednesday morning.
Aides to the
governor would not offer any details of the plan, but a source close to
the talks tells WBAL News that the proposal will be very similar to the
one House and Senate budget negotiators approved in the final hours of
the legislative session last month. Neither the House or Senate voted
on the proposal.
O'Malley said $512-million in spending cuts would take effect July 1, unless lawmakers approved a tax bill.
