Fresh off his excommunication of millions of Protestants, Rick Santorum is now calling for the abolition of the public school system:
Speaking to the Ohio Christian Alliance, Santorum went so far as to refer to public schools as "factories" and say that federal or state support for education is an "anachronism."

nice to see the candidates from a communist point of view
Public schools do suck.
I'm a very active Republican who has been supporting Romney. I didn't know that much about Santorum. Now I see that he is a nut job. (In the interest of fairness, I am a retired public school teacher).
Public schools are a waste...of time and taxpayers dollars. The "old school" system should be brought back...when students actually learned or were held back until they did learn. No free rides!
It would be better if they taught true knowledge rather than what the government tells them to brainwash our kids with.
I had a good example that just came to light recently but my memory has misplaced it.
When I come across it again I with share it.
government schools run by the unions are a poor excuse for educating anyone let alone our children.
this is a failed system that truly needs to be shut down. parents are fed up and feel they don't have a voice. well you do have a voice. walk away and see what they do.
take the responsibility for your own children and stop depending on the government to educate your children.
are you afraid to face up to this mess and speak the truth? get a backbone and be a part of the solution instead of remaining in this failing system.
Be careful about supporting private schools. People like O'Malley might see this and, without stopping taxation for schools, put a fee in place to fund private schools for everyone. You know, just like funding teacher pensions.
BTW, I've heard people mention that any of the pension cuts may only apply to those that have not started collecting. A thought similar to what Ocean City has done for their workers (newbies get screwed, not us).
3:02 explain to me how holding a child back, making them repeat grades, would save either time or taxpayer money? Common sense would tell you it would take more time and cost more money....
His statement did not imply that holding them back would save time or money. What was meant by his statement is that the current system is a waste of time and money when children are not taught. In other words if you just let them pass on through, it is a waste; whereas, if you make sure they learn, you have succeeded and not wasted time or money.
