WASHINGTON (AP) — An adviser to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign says GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum went "well over the line" when he questioned Obama's Christian values.
Robert Gibbs tells ABC's "This Week" that it's time "to get rid of this mindset in our politics that, if we disagree, we have to question character and faith."
Gibbs says the country would be better served if presidential candidates focused instead on the economic challenges faced by the middle class.

Anyone that questions the great almighty savior Obama is going to be called out on it. The debates will be watered down also, because the Republican candidate will be called a “Racist”, if he points out all of Obama’s mistakes, and his unfilled promises.
What Christian values? Obama is one of only a handfull of senators to vote for late term patial birth abortion. Enough said.
He absolutely crossed the line. Just his strategy to wind up the wingnuts of the party. Unfortunately this type of rhetoric will sink the Republican ship come November. Obama will likely win in a landslide.
I want to hear more about the mess that Obama inherited in January 2009. I just can't get enough of that. Pelosi became Speaker of the House in January 2007, and Reid became Senate majority leader in January 2007. The Democrats controlled 2/3's of the government two full years before Obama took office. Bush couldn't blow his nose those last two years without Pelosi & Reid approving it.
Because it's people like you 9:06 that will vote him back into office, what a shame.
Didn't vote for him, 9:34. I'm a proud Republican. I just do not believe the current crop of candidates stand a chance. I also believe that the fringe of our party (wingnuts) have ben given too much credibility. Our party is fractured badly, we are eating our own much to the enjoyment of the Democrats. Our own policy of intolerance as a party is killing us with independants and moderates like myself. I will tell you this, I may vote for Obama this time, and so will a lot of other moderate thinking Rebublicans if this crazy train trend with our candidates continues. Mark my words.
Let me just say that if Obama and Fredricksen make it for another 4 years you can best believe they will feel like they are allowed to do anything they want. Even more so than now.
This country will collapse under four more years of Obama leadership, or lack thereof! Let's hope some half-way intelligent voters will show up at the polls this year!

Look 11:28, I would argue that it is your brand of Republicanism that's done us in. Your brand is going to lose this election. I've been a Republican for 30 years and proud of it. You and your kind wrap your intolerance and ignorance around the American flag and call it patriotism while the majority of Americans laugh and joke about you either behind your back or to your face. General elections are won by the moderates. That is where the majority of Americans fall in the spectrum. Your don't get it.

Better wake up and get back to more clear and intellegent thinking before it's too late. 9:42 I think may be right about moderates and centrists voting for Obama. Look what happened in '08. Learn from history, this country is predominently centrists. Where o where had my once great Republican Party gone?
