The federal government is proposing to grant a first-of-its-kind permit that would allow the developer of a central Oregon wind-power project to legally kill golden eagles, a regulatory move being closely watched by conservationists.
The Interior Department’s Fish and Wildlife Service on Tuesday released a draft environmental assessment that would allow West Butte Wind Power LLC to kill as many as three protected golden eagles over five years if the company fulfills its conservation commitments.

yeah this country is for sure gone...
so let me understand this:
we can subsidize; with our tax dollars, another failing wind farm and in the process kill golden eagles.
we CAN'T drill for oil anywhere in the U.S. or off the coasts. we CAN'T mine for coal.

Beautiful bird. Chances are it's more likely to land on a live wire on an electric transformer. Those wind turbines aren't like a fan, kind of slow turning.
The wind turbines are butchering all birds, including raptors and even bats at an alarming rate. But they won't make a decision on the pipeline from Canada because of some stupid beetle that "may" be unhappy. We have lost our minds.
