Advocate Says Sussex Seniors Are Afraid

GEORGETOWN — Ed Funk is concerned that Sussex County provides more money for dog catchers than senior citizens, and he let county council know about it during a recent meeting. He wants Sussex officials to do more to protect seniors.
“I don't care if you bring in the National Guard or a posse, but you need to help seniors,” he said.
Speaking before council during the public comment portion of the agenda, Funk said because of a rise in crime, many seniors are afraid to come out of their homes – even to go to the mailbox. “Nobody is doing anything for seniors. It's pathetic,” he said.
