Better believe that it isn't far into the future that when you travel by car, some camera, somewhere along your route will take a picture of your tag number and run it through a national database to make sure you ahve no outstanding tickets, your registration is up-to-date, insurance is current, etc. Your picture (and that of any occupants, too) will be run through what is ALREADY a database of MILLIONS of photographs to check for "wants and warrants", match the person with the registered driver, and verify all occupants are wearing their seat beat and are ALSO not wanted for any "crime", like maybe being in a park after 1pm with no ID. 1984 came a little later than Orwell predicted, but it's coming on fast to make up for lost time. This ought to free up the police to spend more time beating up women or pepper sraying civilians in handcuffs.
