A Pennsylvania eighth-grader who became ill after smoking synthetic marijuana and had a double lung transplant has died.
Tonya Rice told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that her 13-year-old son, Brandon, died Thursday morning at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh at UPMC.
The boy smoked the fake marijuana out of a plastic PEZ candy dispenser and suffered chemical burns to both lungs as a result. He was put on a respirator in June and had a double-lung transplant in September.

The headline should read "Idiot kid dies after smoking burning plastic".
A more accurate title would be "Boy dies after smoking out of PEZ dispenser". Don't blame the synth pot. You know anyone who smokes out of plastic? No. There's a good reason for that.
VERY misleading headline. Smoking pot, synthetic or otherwise, has NEVER (read THAT again), in the history of civilization, EVER killed anyone. The kid died from chemical burns. I say ban Pez containers, since it is the logic that anti-pot crazies seem to follow. If he hadn't died, he would have probably either been hooked on smoking Pez containers until it DID kill him, or Pez just would have been a "gateway" to bubblegum tape containers.
