Please Get The Word Out
"I read sbynews.com and find there is no better way to get information to our community. I am not registered though. I hope you can help. There is an older gentleman in front of the Rite Aid on Rt 13 in Delmar with a sign that says "Homeless. Please help. God Bless". There are many shelters out there. Not sure if they are all full. I am hoping a post could get someone out there to steer this gentleman in that direction, I think it would be great."

Thanks Joe!
The cold weather shelters are open, but mostly only through the night. Unfortunately, the homeless shelters do not allow people to stay inside throughout the day unless there is severe weather. This man may already be staying in one, but if not, he/you could contact HALO- they're the biggest stable organization out there for the homeless here in town. They host breakfast and dinner every day at their Harvest Center on South Blvd- behind Giant.
there are shelters and a lot of the churches are doing overnites as well. They may or may not have bedspace. This man may or may not have a place to stay, he may or may not be using the money given to him for alcohol or drugs... It's a shame but it happens a lot.
Joseph House hospitality room is open every morning for the homeless to get breakfast, shower and wash their clothes.
