The big constant up at the North American Auto Show this week has been fuel economy and electric vehicles.
And now, if you want to jump on the green car bandwagon, there is a place in D.C. to charge up.
On Wednesday morning, Tesla Motors, the maker of the Tesla Roadster, helped to open the first residential electric car-charging station in D.C. The station has been installed at the 425 Mass Apartments by the Car Charging Group, Inc.

electric cars run on electricity. No savings there. What a fraud.
Only takes 8 hours to charge.
221-Uh, there is plenty of savings there. Electrity is gobs cheaper than gasoline. Maybe you should do some research.
2:21 Electricity is cheaper than gas and in renewable. Oil isn't so its price will only go up. Compare electric and gas heating bills and you'll see. Lets do some research!
Takes 20 hours for a complete charge & goes a hundred miles on a charge.
Tesla is a great AMERICAN car company. They are innovative and probably the next wave... I hope they aren't the next Tucker.
Wait a year or two. These electric cars will be gone like the pet rock
doesn't say how long it takes to charge, and there isn't a price, so I guess it's free right?
or maybe since it's in dc everybody else will pay so they can drive for free!

can't be comparable. our electric is thru the roof. won't dp&l love to get your car depending on them also. wouldn't take a free one just because of them.
I can see it now...LOOOOOng lines at the plug.
Natural gas cars are the way to go.
People aren't taking into account what it costs to produce the electric. It doesn't just fall out of the sky!
If you take the actual cost into consideration and the damage done by the process of producing the electric, just how does that do anything to save the environment? It doesn't.
In the end, it is not cheaper than gasoline either.
My time is worth quite a bit and if I have to wait 8 hours or so for the car to charge - especially if I'm traveling, then what have I really accomplished? Nothing!
Just wait. If electric cars gain popularity, where is the gov't going to get money for roads? Roads are supported by the road tax on gas and diesel. If there are thousands of electric cars not paying road tax, where is the money going to come from? Eveyone that still has a gas vehicle. Taxes on fuel are going to increase along with the price of oil.
