Amnesty for School Cheaters

FAIRFAX CHEATERS Washington Post: "The Fairfax County high school that asked teachers to all but banish F's from its recent report cards has been experimenting with an approach that would allow students caught cheating to retake tests instead of receiving zeros. West Potomac High School Principal Cliff Hardison last month instructed teachers to allow cheaters to retake tests. The idea was that cheating should 'result in a disciplinary consequence separate from an academic consequence,' Hardison said in a Nov. 5 e-mail to teachers."

This will lead to more cheating. More students will take more risk now that the consequences are less severe.

What's the point in that? If you cheat and get caught, you can retake test. If you don't get caught, you cheated.

Win win. Not only are they cheating themselves, they are cheating the public who come into contact with them in the future.

This makes NO sense. You are just asking the kids to cheat. At what point are we going to make people accountable for their actions. More will take the chance to cheat on tests now.

Today's kids aren't held accountable for nothing they do wrong. Ya'll just give them a few minutes time out. Afterwards, it's a done deal. These cheaters are our future. They will decide the outcome of our lives in a negative way when we become old. Woe to the future of our senior citizen. Woe to our future.

What a great idea. This allows the young students to get
the guidance they need to become future Government leaders.
Cheat and prosper, WOW what a concept.

A grade should represent what course content has been learned and how the student can analyze and apply it. Discipline issues, be it fighting, bullying, running in the halls, or cheating should be handled by disciplinary means. In the case of cheating, these consequences need to be at least as strong a deterrent as getting a '0' on the test.

If I cheat on my taxes, will the IRS just let me re-do my taxes if I get caught? No monetary penalty, just a do-over. lol
