Virginia Woman To Be Executed In 2002 Deaths At 9 PM Tonight

Jarratt, Virginia (CNN) -- Teresa Lewis, a 41-year-old grandmother moments away from becoming the first woman executed in Virginia in nearly a century, met with family members and a spiritual adviser Thursday.

Death penalty opponents argued that Lewis -- who has almost no hope of a reprieve -- should not die for a murders-for-hire scheme that spared the triggermen a capital sentence.

Lewis is set to die by lethal injection at 9 p.m. ET at Greensville Correctional Center.

The victims' family members are to witness the execution, state Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.

Kathy Clifton, daughter of murder victim Julian Lewis and sister of victim C.J. Lewis, said she would be among the witnesses.

Lewis' attorney, Jim Rocap, described her as "remarkable" and said she was aware of what was going on, and that she accepted it.

The death row inmate pleaded guilty in the 2002 slayings of her husband and stepson in their rural home near Danville, Virginia, about 145 miles from Richmond. Two male co-conspirators were given life in prison without parole.

Lewis, whom the state argued is evil, would be the first woman executed in the United States in five years.

Funny, the State of Virginia would execute this woman with an IQ of 72 who was most probably manipulated into committing this heinous crime, yet Lee Boyd Malvo gets off with a life sentence after willfully & knowingly committing premeditated murder as the "beltway sniper". He was supposedly a juvenile, yet he knew what he was doing, planned it, executed & took pleasure, which he openly expressed,in shooting all those people. He became "of legal age" within a few months of his capture. John Allen Williams, who drove the car, was an "adult" & was executed in Virginia last fall.
My opinion, Lee killed too many to get away without the death sentence.
Go figure.

Look BOZO 5:25 AM,

Numerous courts found her competent to stand trial and found her to be the one at the manipulator. It's because of soft hearted liberals like you the reason we have so much crime in this country. Maybe a low iq person could harm you and your family so you can say it's ok because they were "borderline retarded." Heck most liberals are borderline retarded.
