Illegal immigrants are not a threat to the local labor force since they take the less desirable, lower-paying jobs, says a report by the Anne Arundel County League of Women Voters, which supports "a path to citizenship."Most are paid minimum wage and they do not get benefits. Illegal immigrants have opened a number of new businesses that benefit the local economy.
Illegal immigrants pay their share of taxes in the form of property, auto, sales, tobacco, alcohol and utility taxes. The report found that they “are not heavily subsidized by the native-born population.” Groups such as Help Save Maryland, which opposes illegal immigration and want stricter enforcement of immigration laws, say the league conclusions are "bogus."

I'm not so sure some of these illegals are not getting government help in the form of food stamps, etc., but I have no proof to back that theory up.
It's funny, starting when I was 14 years old I worked minimum wage, no benefits jobs, and I was not an illegal alien. Why are our legal americans too good for this, because they would lose their check at the beginning of the month and their independence card, an account paid for by the taxes I pay to buy cigarettes beer or whatever. Sure the illegals get food stamps and health care, we provide programs and help them make the applications. The school systems offer summer programs to teach the migrants kids. it is all a drain on our economy. I pay all those taxes listed by the quote, plus some. I don't oppose legal immigration, but I think we need move the illegals back, and force Americans that are able to work back in the work force.
Is homocide a "drain of resources"? How about the tax money it takes to educate their anchor babies? How about the money it takes AWAY from American families AND legal immigrants in the way of opportunities for work? The league is in league with the democrats and as such believe illegal immigrants= potential liberal voters.
this is all very true but there are legals that are huge drains on the state too with generations of drop outs on welfare and disability fraud for depression or lifestyle change treatable diabetes citizens or not fraud is illegal that's what needs to be addressed here not the title of citizen but what and how LAWFUL citizens contribute and participate
