Beaglin Park Drive between Old Ocean City Road and Middle Neck Drive-it one of the newest roads in the County and it is already plagued with potholes and poor repair jobs! This goes to show the poor quality of paving the county slaps dowb on its roads!
Stage Road in the Delmar area. There are places where the edges of the road are gone and if you pass another car you have no choice but to rattle your teeth. I called the county once, to ask about it. My answer came a couple of days later when they came out and placed a "End of County Maintenance" sign near where it starts. I felt much better.
our government can't even pave the roads, and they're gonna take on the health care system ? so you think this is gonna work huh ? you liberals are morons ...
Agree with 10:02, Beaglin Park, and its a new road!!!! It was probably paved by Rocky Harrison, he did my driveway and he did a horrible job. If I wasn't going thru so many surgeries at the time I would have had him tear it up and do it again. If anyone is thinking about using Rocky Harrison, think again and find someone else!!!
RT 13 is also bad, as is Fitzwater. Firetower isn't a paving problem, it is more to do with grading. It should be removed, regraded and repaved.
east bound glen ave, slow lane. between civic center & beaglin. its not that long of a span so i can't imagine it would cost THAT much to fix it!
Also, Jasmine Drive. Where's that, you ask? its the road that has been started beside Golden Corral that is to lead to Target. Think of all that traffic that would eliminate on that part of Rt 13 if they would just finish the damn thing.
Mardela said " Firetower isn't a paving problem, it is more to do with grading".......Glad your not in charge of the roads, because that has nothing to with it. What it has to do with is that so many of our rural country roads have evolved into what they are from old dirt roads. They were never built to a standard, and were certainly never designed to accomodate the type of traffic they are receiving. The problem has more to do with what is underneath of the road. Clay for the most part. Until Wicomico County finds a source of funding for roads, I suggest putting aside a few dollars a month in a tire and suspension fund. Thank you State of Maryland (Omalley)
9:58 Carl Anderton pushed through getting Pennsylvania Ave paved last year and this year he pushed through getting Walnut St paved. It is in this year's budget. Unlike Ireton's broken promise to Salisbury, help is on the way in Delmar!
Waverly Drive behind the hospital - the part they just spent months repairing/repaving last year.
Also the corner of Zion Road and Brown Road has a hole my minivan can fit in. And everytime a Perdue truck goes around that corner the hole gets bigger.
11:59, no, but you can lay it on the state. In a sense you CAN lay it on the feds. Its called unfunded mandates. The feds require that certain things related to roads be maintained in a certain manner. This is a mandate. Where is the money to fund such a mandate? The teachers scream that their budget is so big because of mandates. Well....mandates exists in lots of areas throughout local government. Not just education. SHOW ME DA MONEY
Camden Ave from the Temple all the way to SU. There are so many manhole covers and patch works from the winter storms as well as the numerous dips from construction patches. Driving this route every day definitely has put some wear and tear on my car.
Mr. O'malley can take the blame for this. He has severely cut funding to cities, counties and the state for highway maintenance and improvements. But we (tax payers) are still paying taxes for highway maintenance.... If Mr O'mally was to cut funding for highway maintenance why wouldn't he cut the gas tax as well? He needs to go....
Most highway improvement work that you see today is paid for by the Stimulus, not local or state funding.
Sorry Joe but that works is being paid for by the federal government, not Delmar or Delaware.
anonymous 1:33, well then, I need to thank YOU. In fact, let me thank ALL of you for paving my new driveway to my home. I'd also like to thank Vice President Joe Biden for making sure those of us smart enough to live in Delaware have been taken care of. O'Mally stole ALL of the roads money from every county in the state and put it all into Baltimore City. You voted for the guy, NOT ME! At least I know my tax dollars came back home to roost while yours clearly came back to Delmar to roost too.
11:09, show me where there is any clay on this sand pit we live on...lol
Firetower road is not torn up and full of potholes like other roads. It needs to be torn up, regraded and repaved. However, if more roads were like Firetower is now, speeding wouldn't be an issue...lol
I agree with everyone about O'Malley, but the ignorant ones who voted for him after he ran the city of Balto into financial ruin can only pat themselves on the back. I hope and pray that he is defeated in November.
2:50, clay in general (bad base) is the culprit for much of the problems on old country roads. You can have sand in an area and not very far away find clay. Firetower is more likely a result of a freeze cycles and moisture getting under the road causing it to fail. The problem certainly didn't have anything to do with grading as your first post suggested.
Firetower was bad before all the snow this winter. Now, it's just falling apart. Like another poster said, it will tare your vehicle apart. Don't drive over 30 mph if you don't want to do damage to your vehicle.
3:40, I disagree with you. Sure Firetower has always been bumpy (i use it atleast once a week), but the section that is torn to he!! didn't happen till after the winter storms. (Just an observation)

"our government can't even pave the roads, and they're gonna take on the health care system ?"
I don't think you can lay the problems of the county with the ambitions of the federal.
the government, at any level, is struggling with the basics. thats what 10:10 is getting at.
Waverly Drive behind the hospital - the part they just spent months repairing/repaving last year.

Hands down the beginning of Pemberton that meets Nanticoke by the car wash....absolutely horrible!
Naylor Mill at the bridge and at the four way stop.

East Philadelphia Street in Salisbury. Hasn't been paved in probably 50 years.
