In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.
The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others.
The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant.
The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

Hmm, christians using only their ideas and only their beliefs to suppress others and look down upon those that don't have the exact same beliefs. But I guess this is considered ok since its the Christians doing the persecuting.

Also, just for the sake of arguement, since apparently only religious holidays (in your opinion) deserve a special day, I suppose they shall do away with President's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day. Hell, while they are at it lets do away with the one's that the government doesn't close for, like Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Groundhog Day since none of them are religious-based. Thank you

Organized Religions have their Gods, and hold a day to celebrate them. An Atheist claims none, and deserves the same nothing in exchange. Besides, this is a made up story I'm sure to make a joke/ point.
5:15 What your asking for is an anti holiday .Basically this is an attack on religion itself and the intolerance of the left . This country was founded on the Christian belief system and is a part of our history . Atheism stands for nothing which is fine go ahead but if we give every kook with an angle a holiday nobody would ever work again.

Although you are not claiming atheism is a religion, it can be argued to be an idea that someone believes in.
Also, although these holidays that are listed aren't necessarily religious, they are build on religious values and what these people stood for. Martin Luther King Jr. believed in an equality through a religious value; he was a pastor. President's Day stands for past American leaders who leant on their religious system and values to serve their country. Veterans' Day remembers the lives we value for giving of themselves to fight our wars and for what they believed in. Most of these holidays are therefore started off the religious beliefs of the people who invented or are dedicated to these days.
If atheists claim to not believe in anything or stand for their values but to simple provide an alternative, why should they receive a holiday unless it's something they "believe" in? And if they believe in this, doesn't that make their reliance on such an idea a sort of religion?
I don't claim to know all the answers, and I'm also guessing this article was made up, but the fact that this judge is acting insensitive and callous to his neighbor, whether they share the same beliefs or not, is shameful.
