Rehoboth Beach cancels Independence Day Fireworks due to COVID-19

Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Rehoboth Beach has canceled its Independence Day fireworks on July 3rd and the Bandstand Summer Concert Series through the July 4th weekend. All permitted special events scheduled through the holiday weekend are also canceled, and the City is working closely with the event producers to cancel their events.

“The health and safety of the community is our top priority and at the forefront of all decisions made during this unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation,” said Mayor Paul Kuhns. “It is difficult to accept that these cherished events cannot continue as planned this year. We look forward to the day when we can all come together once again and celebrate the events that make Rehoboth Beach such a wonderful and connected community.”

Whoa...Somebody must have psychic powers to see 2-1/2 months into the future! Oh yeah, must be looking into the Crystal Ball of "Independence". Funny, how its like one of the 2 most important holidays of the year. Hmmm, the day we celebrate our Independence...coincidence? I think not....just saying

I agree. The whole event stinks to the high heavens. It is contrived and pathetic. Americans are sheep and believe anything the new angel or MSM tells them. Now they have self-enslaved. Who has the power to send the world to its room?

The Rothschilds

438 call me crazy, but at times I still remained amazed......at exactly how jubilantly and willfully ignorant some of you on this board are. Sounds to me like you have never even ran a lemonade stand. These events take more work than your lame back yard bbq of store brand hotdogs. Contracts for vendors have to be vetted and executed. You have security, parking, medical staff, etc all to line up. You can't just wait 2 months to bring this together.

Do your country a favor junior. Sit these conversations out. Let the adults handle these decisions.

Hey! As long as Maryland continues to pay OC seasonal employees more than OC paid them when they worked, there is not much room to complain. Why clean a bathroom and get paid more by NOT cleaning it?

MD just isn't where it's at unless they are shooting for #1. I can get curbside in DE as well as get a COLD Mahattan with it. Maryland would rather you give money to THEIR counties and kiss their ass for the privilege.

For our upcoming anniversary, I am planning on buying a 6 pack and a bag of chips for my wife and I to consume on the Alamo parking lot. we don't have (or can afford the Outer banks like AOC friends can. Maybe we'll will watch YouTube videos of the drunbus

Lots of resorts have an event policy in case of cancellations.
There is a chance that they had a policy and they had to make a decision now rather than later in order to file a claim.
$$$$$$$$ It is all about the benjamins.

All July 4th. Memorial Day and Labor day functions should be cancelled. It's just too soon and not worth the risk.

That’s one of his favorite drunk nights, no chance he’ll cancel

I agree - the Democrats want to start over - their way.

Not worth the risk?
Too soon?

How on earth would you know (or I) when it is or is not too soon? Don’t you get it? That’s the whole point.

There is no way to prove them wrong.
So we are slaves in our homes.
The invisible enemy.
Do what we say. Go here. Do this. Don’t do that.

These towns have already lost more money than the fireworks costs them. Why spend anything for something non-residents aren’t allowed to watch?

7:18 - I see what you mean, given 51k have died and who knows how many more would have died if the measures were not put in place. I’m sure you get all of your medical talking points right from the best in the business.

Hey 5:55 I in no way am trying to lesson the magnitude of the fireworks event, but there are THOUSANDS of them held in the country, and for YOU to assume from my statement that it's ok for YOU to call ME "Junior" is outta line. It's more about "fireworks" it's about celebrating the INDEPENDENCE OF THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY and "I" and MANY others dont take that lightly, and WE especially veterans like myself look at that day as more than a fireworks show....Thays why the ADULTS call it INDRPENDANCE DAY...sincerely 4:38

Hey 9:25 Im NOT taking sides but Ya might wanna do MORE research, or check multiple news outlets representing ALL sides. Not just the side you're rooting for. Actually, just yesterday PA just had to REMOVE about 300 "covid" deaths from their list, because 1) They wernt even tested for covid, and 2) They had previous severe medical issues, but were "assumed" it was covid, so it went in the covid list. Unfortunatly this IS happening all over the country! My wife works in a hospital and is disgusted with the numbers shes seeing. Not with the medical care, but how SO MANY cases are "assumed" Covid, but not even tested. Again, YES, covid is real, but conflating stats, and permitting the media to push panic is disgusting, and will be extremely detrimental to our country.

Hey 12:01 - I’m an ER doc - I’m sure I have a bit more information than you. Even in my bleary eyed state after 72 hours, I’m quite sure I’m a bit more knowledgeable than you.

So Dr Evan's, I didn't realize we were having a knowledge contest. I IN NO WAY was insinuating Drs were responsible. I feel it a "bit" egotistacle that you frlt the need to syate your advanced knowledge, but if that makes you feel bettet, fine. I'm sure you are MUCH more knowledgable than I in medicine, but that in NO WAY negates the FACTS of what the watchgroup found. In addition it in NO WAY negates the the findings in OTHER states of the same issues. AS I STATED in my initial comment, I hold the medical field in very high regards, but I WONT ignore facts. Did I name YOU or YOUR hospital? NO. So why the defence, and the need to assert your superior knowledge? I was ONLY stating the FACTS. They may not be the FACTS at your particular unit, but I find it difficult to believe a man of your extensive knowledge could be speaking for the ENTIRE state of Pennsylvania, or the ENTIRE hospital system. IF my observation of a FACT upset you, that's unfortunate, but Thank you for your work
