Top national disease expert Anthony Fauci is urging the nation to take an 'all hands on deck' approach to the coronavirus – and urging officials to plan for immediate measures even in states that haven't had cases show up yet.
'It doesn't matter if you're in a state that has no cases or one case,' Fauci said at a press briefing with Vice President Mike Pence Tuesday. 'You have to start taking seriously what you can do now that if and when the infections will come – and they will come – sorry to say, sad to say, they will,' he told reporters.
'Everybody should say all hands on deck, this is what we need to do,' said Fauci, a top expert on infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health who has served in the government for decades.
Fauci said coronavirus cases continue to add up globally, and said the administration was paying 'paying particular attention to the cases in Europe, Italy and France.' Italy is currently in a nation-wide lockdown for the disease, which first emerged in China.

Personally, as a senior citizen, I am extremely amazed at the utter failure of our elected leaders on a national scale letting this get so far out of hand. Test kits should have been ready and in labs or doctors offices long ago. Plans made for closings, and so much more.
Not the "devil may care attitude taken by our president telling everyone it would be ok. They had to know it could get bad, and did not prepare.
The Democrats calling it "Racism" to close the border in a Time like this.
This was his Katrina and he and Pence and congress have all failed to work together and help the American people.
This should have all been turned over to the CDC, HHS, etc to run the show with medical experts. NOT to Pence. And done in January. It's to late now.

Talk about drinking the cool aid. Looks like most have swallowed the “...but the flu” line exactly as our dear leader and Fox News have fed it to you. Covid-19 is much more serious than the flu and only an extremely disciplined regimen of testing and containment will start to get this under control. We are woefully unprepared for either of these measures.

Because they are closing 2 wks after spring break. Guessing they think alot of people will travel and could become sick. So the 2 wks after is the time you should become sick if infected. I don't think the idea is to stop it. It is to just slow it down so the people needing the hospital don't overwhelm it.
All political campaigns need to be stopped! Crowds are the last thing anyone needs to be in.

I also think that he was very good on national television when he addressed the country. He made it very clear that he was going to protect the citizens of the United States and he was going to try and work together to solve this problem. "It's" always coming for all of us. Funeral homes are the most stable businesses there are. Everybody comes to them sooner or later...everybody!
