Trump Promotes Bible Literacy Classes at Schools

President Donald Trump espoused “Bible Literacy classes” as a “turn back” for the nation in a tweet Monday morning.

“Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!” Trump wrote on Twitter Monday morning.

Kentucky passed a Bible studies bill in 2017, and similar bills have been introduced in Florida, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Virginia, and West Virginia in 2019, reported USA Today on Wednesday.

“The Bible is an integral part of our society and deserves a place in the classroom,” Republican North Dakota state Rep. Aaron McWilliams, who co-sponsored his state’s Bible studies bill that would apply to public high schools, said, according to USA Today.

NO NO NO Keep religion out of public schools,if they allow bible studies the next thing you know there will be a bunch of lawsuits and they will have to teach the quran or whatever that muslim book is and of course the wican witches won't want to be left out. I'm very religious but know how the left works and they hate GOD and all religions,if people are foolish enough to open that door one little crack the left and the MSM will blow it wide open with every kind of hate speech there is. Keep religion with the family and church where it belongs. GOD BLESS AMERICA and PRESIDENT TRUMP. Joe Please approve this comment I think a lot of people will agree with me.

Finally. Thank you. Someone who understands the importance of NOT picking favorites.

I'll tell you what I might support... is a "Religions & Culture" class that strictly teaches what different people believe and their cultures, but doesn't pick sides, or favorites, or indoctrinate. Teaches the major religions of the world, and their histories, how they were founded and grew. Not like a church class, but more like history class.

I "hop" so too!

I do not agree with you.

Please just allow School vouchers for private Christian schools. Hardly seems fair that we’re forced to financially support a public school system that we can’t use. In order to have our children learn real world history, cursive, and actual math we pay for the useless public school and then tuition for the school we choose.

Nothing wrong with religious studies. No student is forced to sign up for it. They teach religious education in European schools. Students choose the religion they want to study. Does not mean you support that religion. You are simply choosing to learn more about it.

Yes, that sounds nice, but with limited room and resources... wouldn't it be more applicable to have a Religions class? Surely, to give an overview of the worlds major religions and philosophy should be the point, not to give a single sided indoctrination?

If students want a specific religious study they have plenty of Churches to go to, correct? No need for tax payers to do pay for that in Schools.

A Religions class that didn't preach, but explained the beliefs of the worlds religions and their differences, and their histories, and geographies WOULD be of educational benefit to children.
