Yes, slaves were uneducated and only knew how to pick cotton and farm crops. They couldn't even fend for themselves, that was why the "Freed man Bureau" was put together. They had to be taught how to read, write, clean themselves, cook, wear shoes, speak english, learn how to pay bills, all kinds of life skills.
The majority of the economy during the slave era hinged on low cost slave labor, and was the main engine for the economy of the American South.
Ergo, slaves LITERALLY helped build America.
Cotton, Tobacco, Sugar, Rice, Indigo, all relied on the slaves. ERGO... so did shipping, rails, trade... etc, etc. Without the slave labor, there would have been nothing to build on.
While the vast majority of slaves were field hands, they also were involved in other plantation tasks. Some were domestics and worked as butlers, waiters, maids, seamstresses, and launderers. Others were assigned as carriage drivers, hostlers, and stable boys. Artisans—carpenters, stonemasons, blacksmiths, millers, coopers, spinners, and weavers—were also employed as part of plantation labor forces.
I simply don't understand why this fact has to be diminished? And, recognizing these FACTS, does not diminish the contributions of other minority groups in history, as shown in the video, the Irish immigrants.
HA HA HA. You fools are constantly talking about "erasing history" when it comes to confederate monuments. Seems to me you have NO grasp of history to erase if you believe this.
639 agreed.
Folks that believe in this bogus post seem to believe Chris Columbus, George Washington, and a gaggle of white men created an American utopia from scratch, and then those coloured folks messed it all up. LOL
12:58. Why were they uneducated? Do you think they were given the opportunity for any education other than how to work in a field?? What a stupid comment.
That claim that "Slaves" built America is so false, it is the same crap they are shouting now that "They" built the pyramids. The Egyptians of that time we light skinned people, not Africans!

This is the best post that I have seen in a long time.
What? A whole bunch of people from different ethnicities built America.

I have to wonder just where this is coming from?

11:47. You’re pretty funny (and unashamedly racist). Where did you get your skin color information? 1950’s Hollywood movies?
1258, by today's standards, just about EVERYONE was uneducated. What you mean is "unskilled", and you are HIGHLY wrong on that statement as well.
Really uneducated soul.
Very refreshing to see the truth once in a while!!!!
