Correction officer jumped by gang members at Rikers

A correction officer's face was slashed when he was jumped by multiple gang members at Rikers Island jail facility on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Correction Officers' Benevolent Association said.

The people who attacked him around 1:30 p.m. are alleged members of the Bloods gang.

The officer is being treated for a deep gash in his forehead.

“While not a slashing, today’s attack on a Correction Officer on Rikers Island is deeply troubling," Department of Correction spokesman Peter Thorne said. "The officer, who suffered an injury to his forehead, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The attack was immediately broken up by two officers. Anyone involved will be re-arrested and placed in punitive segregation.”

Several correction officers have been attacked by inmates recently. One officer was attacked by three inmates. His ear was cut and his right hand was fractured. In another recent incident, an officer was beaten unconscious.

Wow , we need to get them larger screen color TVs , maybe steaks for lunch , weekends off in the country , whiskey and beer for good behavior , drugs for helping each other , paid holidays and many other things , are we that stupid? Jail is jail , lock em up , no , they are not humans in jail . sand paper for toilet tissue , one water location , the toilet used for all needs including washing and brushing the teeth with your finger.

Damn animals just cannot be tamed, need to be kept busy, less luxury, more work, even if they dig holes then just cover them up again or stack rocks then unstack them.
