Body of Eddison Hermond, missing from Ellicott City flood, found in Patapsco River

Howard County Police have confirmed that the body of Eddison Alexander Hermond, 39, who went missing during the Ellicott City flood, was found by searchers today in the Patapsco River, just across the Baltimore County line.

Hermond was last seen Sunday, May 27 in the area of La Palapa restaurant on Main Street at approximately 5:20 p.m. Witnesses reported that Hermond was attempting to help a woman who had escaped through a window with her cat, when he became swept up in the rushing water. An acquaintance reported him missing to police at 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

Rescue personnel have been searching buildings and waterways in the area since the flood. There have been no other reports of missing people.

Very sad. A real hero.
I wonder how many of our politicians that rushed to the politically network rich funeral of another county's executive will have the integrity to honor a life lost in a selfless act?

RIP. A true hero

That "hero" word has lately been thrown around very freely a lot, but in this case it's the real deal.
This man is a true hero, losing his life assisting others with no cameras around - no "glory" in his act. He was going over and above his duty in service to others.
I haven't heard as yet what the situation is on any family (wife; kids) that he may have had, but this situation screams out for a "Go Fund Me" page.
I've never donated to that before. I certainly will on this one.

4:56. Perfectly said.
This is so sad. A REAL modern day hero. I hope his funeral profession is at least as long as the one in Salisbury last week.
