Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Continues To Create New Jobs & Grow Government At Taxpayer Expense

What are the paid firemen doing while the wait around for a fire to happen? This isn't their job? They are supposed to hold all those qualifications anyway, right? If they don't, how will they be able to know if the mechanic followed proper procedure in his maintenance? Who will inspect the work? How will they know their equipment will work when they arrive on scene?

This is the dumbest thing I ever heard of!

That is crap pay for anyone with those certifications.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like they already have someone in mind with the exact resume in place?

Anonymous said...

Just like James Jester writing the job description for his next gig.

Anonymous said...

They better hope so, because with those requirements and duties, that salary is low.

Anonymous said...

Why wouldn't this fall under the newly created director of public works field operations? I mean there is already a director of public operations give Jake day's butt buddy something to do but ride around looking stupid

$48-50K around here is decent money (about $25/hr.) when benefits are added, which amount to something like $30-40K for city employees.

Anonymous said...

I make $50k/yr. without getting off the sofa. $50k is good for a dropout with a GED anywhere.

Anonymous said...

That position is already filled before memo went out. That is funny stuff right there.

I went through one of those mickey mouse government applications and interview processes one time, where I not only met 100% of the qualifications, but also had a Military service preference to boot. Colossal waste of time. As usual, the county government selected someone from the department to "promote" into the position, even though I was more qualified. The county administrator admitted to me that that was their intent all along, and that the "process" to advertise and interview applicants was required by policy, regardless of the intent not to hire anyone other than the county employee. This was in Worcester County, and all county governments have the same "policy."

Salisbury city government is all about who knows what asses to kiss. Poor Tom Stevenson hasn't met a job requirement yet for either job he's held since returning to city government employment. Its pretty frustrating to a lot of the rest of us employed by the city

Anonymous said...

As a fellow city of Salisbury employee I second the frustration sitting back and having to watch Tom Stevenson literally stick his head up every mayors ass from tilghman on to get himself a better/secure position. The guy has no qualifications to lead any department let alone the whole city government he was doing at one point. He's a true blue Jake day minion today and enjoys a cushy job because he's a turd burglar

Anonymous said...

This shit is getting ridiculous!

How often does a fire truck need the oil changed?

Anonymous said...

Thank God i don't live in that city, if i did my house would be going on the market and getting out. Jake is a joke. Jake the Joke!

Anonymous said...

I think this job falls under the illustrious supervision of Stevenson and the newly formed director of public works field operations Jake day created for his buddy. I guess the buck just keeps getting passed around with these guys. The post is just a formality with these douche bags

Must be able to update in unit speed dial numbers of new restaurants.
Must be able to rehabilitate trashed freebie bicycles.
Must be able to not discuss current status of fahr boat without smiling.
Must be able to calibrate scale in chief's office to read low.
Must not live in MD if only has to have driver's license from state of residence.
Must not dress like Ernie for interview with mare.
Must carry bucket and beg for change during folked festival.

Should have tried city Salisbury employment. Poor military records don't play into hiring process. Hell their even hiring ex-cons now. Its whatever the social agenda of today is

Anonymous said...

You guys should go easy on Jake day and his "midget men" posse. These guys are really self conscious of being minions and small in stature. Poor old Stevenson goes around Salisbury alike a cat shitting pinnaepples

How can these people actually feel good having to interact with other city government employees knowing everyone is calling bull**** on the jobs they've been given. It has to be brutal on one's psyche when they see you lack any character or pride and your biggest asset is ass kissing. Who would WANT a job if that's how you have to get it??

Anonymous said...

Where is all the tax money coming from nothing but poor people in the city.

Anonymous said...

The starting pay for this is higher than the starting pay for paramedics at the fire department. Ponder on that for a moment!

Anonymous said...

That’s funny!

Anonymous said...

What a F'n Joke! Obviously Eric Cramer is in over his head and can't do the job he signed up for. Sad but True. I saw those dumb, silly commercials, I mean news stories on WBOC.

Why didn't Jake Day and Rick Hopeless just allow the County Chief Fire Inspectors Office continue with the plan reviews and the inspections? They were doing a great job and there were no problems with his office. As a matter of fact, there was no cost to the city and the job got done without begging for more help. Big Dumb Mistake by Jake Day and Rick Hopeless, the wannabe Far Cheef.

This is absolutely the best response ever. This is how you should do your rebutle Joe.

If the shifts would take certain areas every day they could knock out these inspections in no time, but they can't pretend they needed a fire inspector that way. Just another paid fire position for Rick Hopeless to John Tool Transition of the Salisbury Fire Kingdom.

What is the next gig of the James Lloyd Jester.

You people make off the wall posts and do nothing further to back it up with evidence. We are not mind readers, we don't know what you are talking about.

That shouldn't be a starting salary for an uneducated paid Farmin. What a joke.

Those requirements are nothing. Minimal class work is all. Anyone can do it.

Many college educated people with state jobs don't even start off with salaries like that. What a slap in the face to the real educated workforce.

Good point, it should fall under Field Operations.

No, Salisbury is trying to get more paid Farmin and this is how it is done.

Anonymous said...

This is one position that can and should be contracted out. It's much cheaper because you will have these paid people doing absolutely nothing most of the week.

Anonymous said...

He's not creating new jobs he's abusing the office of mayor and creating unnecessary positions. How many people in city of Salisbury that are sitting around with nothing to do??

Here it is around 2:30 am and the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Station 6 has been re-alerted numerous times to Ocean Gateway and Hobbs Road for a petroleum spill. Finally, just before the paid fire crew in Salisbury is alerted to take this call, someone from Parsonsburg answers up and says they have a crew and can handle the call. When they finally get out there are only 2 people responding. It is 616 which is a volunteer chief and 1 other volunteer responding in Rescue Engine 601. Two people staffing a large fire truck doesn't even meet the national standards. The Volunteers in this county are having more and more difficulty getting the equipment out, but yet they are telling the County Executive that they don't want or need the volunteers from Station 13 to run mutual aid with them. Eric Tyler is going around trying to work things out with Pittsville, Powellville, Fruitland and Willards to get them to say no to the Station 13 volunteers as well. Why would you deny free labor from volunteer firefighters? This is the reason the County Executive needs to find his balls and create a Countywide Fire Department that answers to the Executive instead of a bunch of whiney volunteer fire chiefs. Get some balls Bob Culver and tell Eric Tyler he doesn't have a choice. Eric Tyler became the volunteer fire chief in Parsonsburg when their previous chief passed away. Eric Tyler is also a paid fireman in Anne Arundel County where he is in the union and playing along with the unions demands. Salisbury's union has been in touch with the fire union in Anne Arundel County to put pressure on Eric Tyler and also Cory Polidore who is also a paid fireman in Anne Arundel County and the Chief of Station 13. Eric Tyler needs to get some balls and stand up to the Firefighters Union in Anne Arundel County. He also needs to quit being territorial and welcome mutual aid from the volunteers of Station 13. Bob Culver find some balls and quit being pushed around by Jake Day and the paid firemen of the Salisbury Fire Department. Bob Culver, you are the elected County Executive, get some balls and tell the volunteer fire chiefs that you make the rules not them. If they don't agree then cut off their funding.

This post has nothing to do with the pay of "those with certifications." It's about wasteful spending of Rick Hoppes and Jake Day. Get with it or don't comment.

That's how Rick Hoppes and the Salisbury Fire Department rolls. Always creating positions and giving butt buddies promotions without falling the rules.

Doesn't Rick Hoppes have some fake online college degree from a nonaccredited fake college? I think I read that on here before.

Tom Stevenson was nothing but Arm Candy for his butt buddy Mare Jim Liarton. When ole Jimbeau saw the writing on the wall that Jakey Boi was going to run against him he knew his days were numbered at the top. Funny thing is Liarton got Jake to run against Debbie Campbell and it actually backfired on him. Then Jakeyboi gets Mare and demotes Tom and promotes Community Organizer Julia Glanz to be the top ranking, highest paid employee in Salisbury. Typical of Democrats to hire the most unqualified people for jobs even if they have no experience. Jakeyboi is patronizing his team on the Democrat Central Committee and the local Democrat Club. Tom Stevenson can't complain because he still has a gravy job and a take home truck.

Wow, I'm sitting here listening to my fire department radio and Central is re-alerting the ambulance crew to go to the Food Lion on Nanticoke road for an assault. They finally got out at 3:29 AM and sounded extremely groggy on the radio. The crew of Paramedic A-16 over slept and didn't hear the calls. The paid assistant chief slept through the dispatching as well. This happens every single night of the week.

Those paid fireman need to go back on the 8 hour shifts instead of getting paid to sleep. The mayor and council needs to step in like they did in Ocean City and take their sleeping privileges away from them. What kind of care can they give if they have been sleeping and groggy.

Must be nice to get paid $70,000 a year as a paramedic or assistant chief and get paid to sleep.

I get it that it's just a formality with those douche bags, but I have a feeling the said mechanic will fall under fat a$$ Rick Hoppes. Regardless this position isn't needed. Any mechanic at that pay will not be able to do heavy duty work on the apparatus. It is much cheaper to sub out the work when needed.

Who else in the Salisbury Fire Department has criminal backgrounds except for David Cox and Rob Hull?

Isn't that the truth. How do you think Tom Stevenson, Rick Hoppes and Barb Duncan can sleep at night knowing they have to kiss the Mares a$$ every single day to keep their jobs. They have had to answer to Homo Mares like Jim Ireton and Jake Day, now they have to answer to Homo Millennials like Julia Glanz and Andy Kitzrow. Soon Caroline O'Hairball will be their boss after the Foke Festivus runs away from da 'Ghettobury and Jakeyboi has to rebrand her job title.

And your point is?? You clowns are the ones that want to play pretend Farmin and ride the Far Trucks. It's your fault that you don't get paid any better because of riding the Far trucks instead of the medic units. If you want better pay go to Ocean City or Anne Arundel County Fire Department for a real job.

March 12, 2018 at 2:24 PM

Your response is 100% accurate.

I would also like to know how many paid city employees sit around and do nothing all the time. Just go by Wawa every morning and see how many paid firemen go their to get their free coffee. Look at all the Salisbury PoPo going their for their free coffee. Look at all the city work trucks going to Wawa every morning to get their coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Then they go back at lunchtime to get another coffee and subs. Then back to Wawa again around 3pm for their afternoon coffee and snack break. Must be nice to have a city job.

Jake Day you are an idiot and you are abusing your position as mayor. Resign now moron.
