Seventeen senior UNC Chapel Hill faculty members demand the university take down a “Silent Sam” statue before Thursday, or else they will tear it down themselves, reported The Daily Tar Heel.
“We do not fear arrest, indeed we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the commitment that the Carolina faculty has to the wellbeing of its students and the principles that make this university great,” the professors wrote in a letter to the school’s chancellor.
The faculty members told The Daily Tar Heel they want to stay anonymous, but reportedly hail from UNC’s arts and sciences, law, medicine, and public health schools.

There will be a day of reckoning for idiots like these. It seems the smarter these bastards pretend to be with their made up titles only masks their lack of intelligence!
Put full time police protection around Silent Sam and pay overtime for the police and then charge it to the faculty payroll account and make it up with an increase in student fees. Will they be so intent on destroying the statue after that happens? It is time to start making people pay for their mean spirited actions. Did you know that the charges were dropped against all the perpetrators who tore down the statue in front of the Durham NC courthouse?

DO they not understand that the "mascot/nickname" of their university is also a confederate euphemism? Southern army soldiers from that area were particularly brave in the face of southern aggressors and they stuck in their ranks like they had "tar on their Heels"
