Update for Wicomico School families and staff: No activites at schools Saturday, Jan. 6

This is Tracy Sahler, Public Information Officer for Wicomico County Public Schools. It's Friday afternoon, and I have an update for our school families and staff.

Thanks to the winter storm, conditions around our schools and in the community remain very challenging. School buildings will continue to be closed on Saturday, January 6th, and any activities that were scheduled at schools Saturday are canceled. Staff members will not need to come in just to make sure a school is ready for an activity that day. Our focus will be on preparing our schools to reopen on Monday if conditions allow.

Please note that we have not yet made a determination for school use on Sunday, when some of our schools are rented by churches. That decision will be made Saturday afternoon and will be communicated to the churches.

Did she really "thank" the storm?

She was suggesting that the storm was the cause.

Why are churches using the schools?
