A University of Illinois math professor believes that algebra and geometry perpetuate “white privilege” because Greek terms give Caucasians unearned credit for the subject.
But that isn’t the professor’s only complaint. She also believes that evaluations for math proficiency perpetuates discrimination against minority students, if they do worse than their white counterparts.
Rochelle Gutierrez argues in a newly published math education book for teachers that they must be aware of the identity politics surrounding the subject of mathematics.
“On many levels, mathematics itself operates as Whiteness,” she argues with complete sincerity, according to Campus Reform. “Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as White.”

Well, isn't it time that non-whites did a little better at becoming proficient in mathematics, or is it just sufficient to blame white people for not teaching them well.
Could someone tell me what this really has to do with "White Privilege". I thought everyone in the world has to know that math is used everyday, every hour regardless of your race. OMG, what have we got teaching our children nowdays. 'YOU JUST CAN NOT FIX STUPID"!!!

For one, mathematics WAS mainly the invention of Greeks and Europeans. The one notable exception is that the Arabs provided the concept of zero. And, secondly, I dare this author to go tell Katherine Johnson that blacks can't do as well as whites in Mathematics!
Boy, that sure reinforces old stereotypes of black people and their intelligence. So she is saying that blacks can't comprehend the science of math, therefore it is discriminatory to try and teach them a "white" subject?" Just how far and loony is this idea of "white privilege" going to go?
I feel privileged just knowing this.
Education is free to those who use it wisely. Color is not a criteria.
Total BS, then that would make the rest of world that is way ahead of us in math and science as racist as well. It all comes back to the home. When I was in high school, the best math teachers I had were all black and they did an excellent job of teaching the subject. So the problem isn't racial, but societal within the black community.
Democrats don't think Blacks are capable that's terrible.
People need to understand "there is NO white privilege". We ALL have the same advantages and opportunities, can't help it if one culture refuses to do better and get an education and a job. They are taught to hate, are not encouraged to go to school, not encouraged to talk like they are educated and taught to act like a thug, all under the disguise of " this is your culture".
Yet 954, the black community for years continues to vote for Democrats. Talk about bass ackwards!
