It is so darn sad that Salisbury has gotten to the point that we don't get upset when a shooting occurs. That's what happens when there is shootings so frequently.
Publishers Notes: It truly is sad and I couldn't agree more with you. First we learn this morning the Chief of Police has her home up for sale, yet there's no explanation. It's easy to assume, (especially in this depressed market) that she has had enough, and why shouldn't she. She has failed to protect citizens AND visitors in Salisbury. Women are being raped at an alarming rate, she denies it and so does your Mayor.
When you elect people with absolutely no wisdom and or experience, this is what you get. The more they throw people into the election ring, simply because they need to take numbers away from another candidate, things fall apart. Does anyone remember when they kept throwing in candidates against Shanie Shields, just to assure she'd get more votes. Then there was a tie in votes, not once but twice! HELLO IDIOTS! Jim Ireton said and did everything he could to make sure he would NOT get elected, yet he got the majority of votes and after a year of campaigning I never once had a door slammed in my face. No sore loser here, trust me. I'm just not a stupid man.
Salisbury is corrupt. People are dying, raped, home invasions, physically getting assaulted to the point they have to get plastic surgery. Kids are constantly in lock down and parents are scared to death. Your local media covers almost EVERYTHING up and guess what, Joe Albero is the Anti Christ for exposing the TRUTH.
You people need to wake the hell up. Duncan needs to go, NOW! Mayor Jake Day doesn't DESERVE any pay raise, period. His child daycare of 3rd floor employees need to be replaced immediately and you need a Council that can and will stand up for the Salisbury taxpayers.
ANYONE connected with any of the people mentioned above who wants to run for County Executive, ignore them like the plague. The day you have TWO local leaders agreeing and colluding with each other is the very day Wicomico County dies. You mark my words, it's time for immediate change.
Oh, and the crap these Liberal spew about threatening people with, if you don't like it, you run for office. Been there, done that. Demand paper ballots and get it right this time.

Not making any excuses, but maybe she is selling her home out of frustration. She might be restricted on enforcing the law by the very people who are running the city.
Law enforcement is tougher than ever, and it's very easy for those in the black community to scream racism. My son worked for her one summer in the CTE program for law enforcement. His impression was she as strict, but very professional. She may be a good police chief, restricted on doing the job she was paid to do.
I don't believe the blame should go totally on her, or her performance. Basically police departments across the country have their hands tied. Now they let the animals run the zoo and then show up to do the police reports afterward when a crime occurs. Who can blame them when you get threatened with a law suit for just doing your job to fight crime.

Not only Wicomico County. Look at the surrounding ones. The States Attorneys have made a career out of NOT prosecuting and the judges won't impose maximum sentences.

I totally agree with you Joe concerning this. I'm just saying police departments across the country are having to deal with these situations in a climate that restricts them from totally enforcing the law. I once worked for the Cambridge Police Department back in the early eighties. I left because of high stress and low pay. You could be sued and the only one that might protect you would be the FOP. It's a thankless job. The state of Maryland is cutting back on spending on all agencies including law enforcement. I think she wants to do her job, but is restricted by local government. That's why most of us have weapons in case they come to our homes.
Locals have been warned time and time again but they aren’t proactive. Instead they remain in reactive mode. The very reason why Salisbury has degenerated into a cesspool of garbage, decay and corruption. They now wonder why there’s no jobs and why new companies either won’t relocate here or start here. The only thing Salisbury is fit for is a private forensic company to solve all the cold cases in this area because it’s clear the local law enforcement has no desire to do so.

From what I hear Jake Day knows of an able body replacement for Barbs but he refuses to reach out to him or pull the trigger and remove her. There needs to be a change there and we all know whoever takes over will face an uphill battle. I know this person and they are willing to take over and fix these issues. Not being a puppet for Jake is the first thing that needs to stoop and address crime head on. We can no longer hide from the issues and we have to go after fixing them. Jake make the move.......
It will take a very strong person who is very secure in his own body to run for any office and be a serious change for the better.
People here are so quick to criticise and demean ANYONE just because they can.
Not only would a candidate have to endure attacks for political foes but also from the very citizens he may try to help.
That's not my attempt to insult or belittle anyone but just how things are in this area, IMO.
I think that holds back several people who might feel the need to run for office. I certainly never would as I feel the people would not appreciate anyone trying to make things better.
Joe is correct. Smallsbury IS corrupt. And not only with govt officials. So business owners/leaders, whatever, are also looking out for number one. As are most lawyers, doctors, and cops themselves. To a point, who can blame them?
But it is with the more liberal doctors, lawyers, business owners that I find repulsive. They know they are hurting people and just don't care.
As always, it is about money, power, greed, ego.
I am just wondering if smallsbury has passed the point of no return.
Bigger question is what type of small percentage of voters will show up in the next election and will they be the type that will make a change.

Especially, how are they prevented by police, who appear after the crimes are committed? The police don't commit the crimes, they sweep up after them. People with issues commit crimes, and they usually give no warnings, at least not to police.

Well she is a department head in the City and she is required by CODE/Charter to live in the city limits. If she moves she has to say in the city limits of Salisbury. No if's, and's or buts!

You can fire the Chief of Police, but I can assure you that unless there is a change in City government, nothing will change, no matter what chief of police they decide to hire after her. Chief is no more than a figure head, controlled by the City and state government. That will not change. Good luck!

I shopped in Salisbury on Sunday evening. Been awhile since I have been there. I cannot express to you have very uncomfortable I felt. First time ever. What a shame.

It's not safe to go out at night or even during the daytime in Salisbury to shop. I went to get gas on Saturday and I was confronted by a homeless person to try and get money from me. Dummy was on a bicycle, but stated his car was broken down and he needed to get to Philadelphia. I said no and the cussed me out. I now carry a hunting knife locked and read for any future confrontations. It's that dangerous. If my wife goes shopping, I go with her. Safety in numbers.

Violence is out of control in this city, if you haven't received it you are fortunate, but your days aren't apparently over. The SPD and States Attorneys office needs to get back to the callers in these communities. We were fortunate as the SPD did get involved in our situation. Chief Duncan, investigators, and States Attorneys office need to go to each location and at least up date these residents and just let them know they care--- wouldn't everyone want this for your family?
