Time Warp 3rd Friday TONIGHT Friday Sept 15th!



September 15, 2017 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury!  This month's theme is Time Warp, so get ready to go back in time, and travel into the future!   Step inside a Tardis, pose next to a DeLorean, or shake hands with Abraham Lincoln!  With historic celebrations, special contests and our imaginations, let's do the time warp again!

On North Division Street, we travel back in time, with a birthday party for the Constitution and the Brothers of the Brush Beard Competition in celebration of Wicomico County's 150th Anniversary!  First, join special guests George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln to celebrate the birthday of the U.S. Constitution, complete with costumes from the 1700s and special musical performances by Ernie Evans and Taffi Scarfi; rain location Trinity U.M.C.

Brothers of the Brush Beard Contest

Then at 7 p.m., we celebrate Wicomico County's 150th Anniversary with The Brothers of the Brush Beard Competition, as local men have their beards judged in a variety of categories including Fastest Growing Beard, Best Moustache, Best Partial Beard, Best Full Beard, Most Unusual Facial Hair and Worst Beard.  The evening will close with a ceremonial up-lighting of the freshly renovated Courthouse, courtesy of the Greater Salisbury Committee, the Richard A. Henson Foundation and Brian LeCompte's Yard Designs.




 Wicomico 150th Historic Pub Crawl

Even if you don't have a beard to show off, it's okay! You can still celebrate Wicomico County's sesquicentennial anniversary, by participating in a Historical Pub Tour presented by Chesapeake Tours & Promotions.  Costumed tour guides and reenactors will narrate the last 150 years of Wicomico County history on this walking tour through Downtown Salisbury. Reenactments include Camp Upton, the Civil War Encampment in Salisbury, the great fire of 1886 at Toadvine's Livery, and a meet and greet with the Handy's from Pemberton Hall Plantation.   Tours begin at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. & 6:30 p.m, and last approximately 1 hour, register in person in front of the old courthouse.   



On the Plaza, artists and crafters will line the street with local handmade items for sale.  The Academy for Musical Performance, AMP Studios, will perform on the main stage.  Special guest folk singer Shannon Murray will perform People's Music from 5:45 - 6:30pm, in conjunction with "The Way We Worked" a traveling Smithsonian exhibition being hosted by the Salisbury University Art Galleries.   Part of Museum on Main Street - a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Maryland Humanities - the exhibition traces the many changes that have affected the workforce and work environment over the past 150 years.  The exhibition draws from the National Archives, as well as, the Nabb Center for Delmarva History and Culture's rich collections.  



Travel in time on St. Peters Street, with fun photo opportunities and attractions!  Step inside a Tardis, or pose next to a DeLorean! 

The Salisbury Jaycees will be pouring local craft beer and wine selections, and just off the Plaza on St. Peters Street, St. Peters Episcopal Church will be offering burgers, halal chicken sandwiches fresh off the grill!  Kids can learn about how global warming and rising sea levels could affect the Eastern Shore in the future, have fun with arts and crafts and a hands on drum circle!



Salisbury Art Space, located on the lower level of Gallery Building, will be showing "The Art of Christopher Harrington and Brad Hudson" in the Main Gallery and will be hosting a book signing for Randolf George, author of "Memoir of a Skipjack.  Plus, clay instructor Paula Smith will be doing a potter's wheel demo on the plaza, in honor of the long history of pottery - the oldest pottery was made about 20,000 years ago, and kids can do a free, fun "wormhole" art project with coffee filters in the spirit of the Time Warp theme!

The downtown bars and restaurants are ready with live music for 3rd Friday!  Roadie Joe's Bar and Grill will have live music for the happy hour crowd by Joe Jacinto from 5:30 - 8:30pm, plus DJ Blendz late night.   Brew River will have a Friday Night Dock Party with live music by Anna Burgess from 6-10pm and DJ Goni for the late night crowd.   Market Street Inn will have late night jams by DJ Juan, and The Brick Room is hosting another installment of Salisbury University's Feature Friday at 6pm!  The months Feature Friday highlights trombonist Lee Knier - as he showcases the trombone without piano accompaniment, with musical guests Ken Dasher on the french horn and harpist Kara Dahl. 






Downtown Trolley service will start earlier at 5 PM in front of the Guerrieri Academic Commons and will run until 7 PM. Service will resume later that night at 9 PM and run until 2 AM. Boarding is free with Gull Card or $3 otherwise and will bring you from Salisbury University and surrounding areas to Downtown.

Artists' and musicians' wares and equipment simply cannot get wet and we do not want to put anyone in a position to damage their livelihoods.
