Woman drove the wrong way five miles on Route 50 before fatal crash
A Greenbelt police officer came forward over the weekend to say he saw the driver who caused a fatal head-on collision last week enter Route 50 in the wrong direction more than five miles away.
Officer Michael Apgar of Cape St. Claire told The Capital Saturday that he saw the driver enter westbound Route 50 at Route 2 south exit ramp in Annapolis. He was the first person to call in the wrong-way driver to police, records of 911 calls released Monday by Anne Arundel County police show.
The driver, identified by police as Christine Parks, 31, of Severn, drove east for several minutes before she collided with a car driven by Hui Xu, 34, of Herndon, Virginia. Police said the crash, which injured two others as well, happened near Bay Dale Drive on across the Severn River Bridge.

She probably realized, but all the ramps were headed the wrong way to get off the highway. And they were on the other side of the road, where all the cars were coming at her. Drunk, or not, in the dark with all the headlights coming at her, she was totally confused, as were the drivers that were coming at her.
Here's a tip from a professional driver that has had a defensive "stay alive" driving course.:
When being approached by a driver on the wrong side of the road (in your lane) ALWAYS steer to the right side of the road. Go to the empty lane on the left, and the other car will likely swerve to their right, like they are mirroring your moves, but they are actually try to move to "their side of the highway." ALWAYS steer to the right and brake until the car passes to your left, or you run off onto the shoulder. It will save your life if you are unfortunate enough to meet a driver heading the wrong way and coming toward you.
They should install one way tire puncture strips. Go the wrong way, you will realize real fast.
All of her toxicology reports came back clean. She was not drunk or high. She lost her life and her child was hurt. Let's have some respect and not comment if you don't know the facts.

Let's talk about FACTS. Alcohol WAS found in the vehicle. The toxicology report has not been released yet. There was NO child in the back of the vehicle. Those are the fact for this accident. The young lady in this accident was from Severn!
