Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 5-11-17

On Saturday, April 26, 2017 at 2:30 PM the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint for a vehicle all over the road and illegal passing..

A Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy located the vehicle and stopped it on conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Rt. 113 at Timmons Road. During the traffic stop the driver, John Stottlemeyer, 37 of Hagerstown Md. appeared to be intoxicated by alcohol. Mr. Stottlemeyer did poorly on field sobriety tests. Mr. Stottlemeyer was placed under arrest and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Mr. Stottlemeyer was released pending trial.

On Friday May 5, 2017 at 1242 hrs, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Bishopville Cemetery.

During the traffic stop the driver, Christopher Fitzpatrick, 38 years of age of Ocean City Md., admitted that he had in the car suspected drugs and paraphernalia. Mr. Fitzpatrick stated and his passenger, Gordon Walters, 45 years of age from Berlin, Md. were snorting the suspected heroin it in the cemetery while on their lunch break.

A search of both males and the vehicle yielded 12 bags of suspected heroin and a hypodermic syringe at which time both subjects were arrested and charged with possession of C.D.S.-not marijuana (Heroin).

Both subjects were taken to a District Court commissioner where they were committed to the Worcester County Jail pending trial.
