A historically black college plans to award Trayvon Martin a posthumous degree later in May, the school announced Wednesday.
Florida Memorial University will present a bachelor’s of aeronautical science May 13 to Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.
Trayvon Martin died in 2012 after neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman shot him during an altercation.
The award serves to honor Martin’s memory and pay homage to the work his parents do for social justice, the school said.

How freakin stupid is that? Hey..lets award a Thug a posthumous degree. That way we can elevate him to martyr status in the black community and have more people behave like him. Great idea.
That award is just more dumb crap. They were both wrong but he died for it. 10 years from now they will swear he could have been another MLK.

This is stupid, but Trayvon Martin was not the one in the wrong. He was just walking home and an ADULT decided he didn't like Trayvon walking through "his community" so he followed him, escalated the situation and then killed him. It's makes me sick that man is walking around free today. It makes me sad to see people on this page call him a thug. He was just a kid who walked past the wrong house.
If I'm not badly mistaken the young Martin was living with his dad because mom couldn't get him to go to school. How ironic he gets a phony college degree. ROFLMAO!

You must have read the biased unsubstantiated news reports, but obviously did not followed the trial, or read the evidence. What you read was made up by the media and Martin's family. It didn't happen anything like what you say, according to the testimony and the facts in the case. It's why Zimmerman was acquitted. The thug that jumped out and mugged Zimmerman got what he asked for, according to the jury. He wanted a fight, and he got one. Gun beats fists. Assault someone in a state where there is a right to concealed carry, and that is a risk that you take. Thug is dead, Zimmerman is not (because he was armed). As Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise)

You fail to recognize that Zimmerman had as much right to walk in that community, as Martin did. Martin had NO right to assault Zimmerman. Zimmerman was attacked / ambushed by Martin. Facts man, they're available, if you care about the facts.
