Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 4-5-17

On 03/28/2017 at approximately 1722 hours, a Worcester County Sheriff`s Office was on patrol when asked to respond to Second Street, Pocomoke City, Worcester County, Maryland to assist Pocomoke City Police Department in an attempt to apprehend an individual with two District Court warrants.

This individual was identified as Malinda Marie Sturgis, age 56, of Pocomoke City, who was wanted for failing to appear in court. Ms. Sturgis was seen by the Pocomoke City Police Department fleeing behind the rear of a residence. The Deputy later found an open door and made several announcements for Ms. Sturgis to come out of the house. Ms. Sturgis would not comply with repeated orders. The Deputy received consent to enter the house. Ms. Sturgis was found in the house and placed under arrest.

A search of Ms. Sturgis produced a glass pipe suspected to be drug paraphernalia.

Ms. Sturgis was charged with obstruction and hindering and possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to the two warrants. After an Initial Appearance was completed with a District Court Commissioner, Ms. Sturgis was released on her personal recognizance pending trial.

Soooo, she didn't show up for court before, but she was released on PR?! Seriously?? I'm CERTAIN she'll show up next time, LOL! What a waste of resources & LEO's time.
