Target whiffs on Earnings and Outlook, Stock Plummets 13%

Well, Target TGT -13.18% investors can't say they weren't warned.

Six weeks after lowering its fourth quarter outlook and warning that it saw "disappointing traffic and sales trends" during the 2016 holiday shopping season, Target posted earnings results that fell well short of Wall Street expectations, and its outlook for 2017 was similarly disappointing. Because of the misses on the top-, bottom- and forward-looking lines, shares of the retailer are down more than 13% in early Tuesday trading.

Target reported Tuesday that it recorded $20.69 billion in fourth quarter fiscal 2016 revenue, a figure that fell short of the $20.7 billion Wall Street consensus and marks a 4.3% decline from the $21.63 billion reported as sales in the prior-year period. The retailer attributed the drop to combined effect of a 1.5% decline in comparable store sales and the removal of pharmacy and clinic sales from the results.

And WHY did this happen...because they preferred the less than 1% of perverts to their customers that just wanted to shop and NOT worry about their restrooms and changing rooms. How stupid is this? They brought it on themselves.

Couldn't have happened to a better company!
Hope Starbucks fails as well!

Maybe they shouldn't have been so quick to cater to the transgender community with their bathroom policy. Men should use the men's room and women should use the women's room. Haven't shopped Target since their bathroom policy change.

When 99% of the population is hetero, chances are catering to the other 1% will be a Fail.

Just my guess, though.

It could be the Pharmacy thing. Or the clinic stuff, but I'll bet those were removed for not being profitable, not to kill sales in general.

But you all just keep lying to yourselves. We won't forget what you said and did and stood behind

EVER!

I haven't shopped there since they chose to cave to the libtards. To me, that puts them in the same boat as the knuckleheads who are trying to move our country in the wrong direction. You are ether part of the problem or you're against it.
Did my lack of $200 =/- dollars cause the drop? Probably not, but maybe enough spits in the ocean can change the tide. Don't buy Starbucks coffee, either.

You mean that the policy of telling the customer that he is always wrong - and hateful, and bigoted and somethingphobic - isn't working for them?

Who could have foreseen that?

Good! I hope it's gets so bad they have to close.

I'm like 4:15. I hope Target goes out of business too. It will Serve Them Right for their disgusting position on letting people use whatever bathroom they want to. It's a disgusting situation where men can pray on our Wives and Daughters simply for doing something natural like Going to the Bathroom.

Everyone who works there deserves whatever they get too because they sat there and allowed this to happen. Gross!

I hope they don't close. I would hate to have to go to Walmart instead.

you reap what you sew...many more heterosexual people than transgendered....not stepped foot in the place since that fiasco

They got political and invited a boycott. Now we see how well that is working out for them (and their stockholders). I only shopped there one time, and my credit card info was breached by their lack of data security. Target is finding out that they don't sell anything that can't be bought elsewhere.
