The company is eliminating the third shift at its Lansing Delta Township plant, which makes three SUVs built on the same platform -- the Chevrolet Traverse, the Buick Enclave and the GMC Acadia. But the new version of the Acadia is being built on a smaller platform, so production of that car moved to a Spring Hill, Tenn., plant last summer.
There are currently 3,144 workers at the Lansing plant. The workers who are keeping their jobs are pretty safe -- the company just invested $583 million in the plant to make the new generation of Traverses and Enclaves there.
GM has been scaling back production and employment due to lower U.S. sales.

So GM erased billions in obligations and screwed investors when it went backrupt in 2009. Now we're seeing a repeat performance, and they have been buying paper into the risky credit risk consumers to sell their junk.

I cannot wait until the after effects of Obummer's presidency are finally out of our system and President Trump's actions can start making some progress. Obummer has destroyed our economy so badly that we will see some more job losses before President Trump's job gains start to show up.

Sales of new cars are down in certain models/ sizes. Those jobs will perk up in plants that are making the higher selling models. Trump is creating a lot of jobs

Well, when you need two jobs to keep the roof over the family, I guess that does double the number of jobs created. I'd rather have a real career that creates wealth for my country than two that serve it burgers.
