Why would a "good" teacher want to be in a room full of unruly disrespectful uninterested brats who couldn't care less about reading, writing, or arithmetic. Rather a person who has sold out to the union and just puts in his/her time is more appropriate.
As a former school employee having retired and now working in the private sector, I fully support choice. Competition breeds innovation and excellence, something sadly lacking in today's public schools.

Unions are helping in the decline of our schools. The unions pay huge salaries to their own and contribute huge amounts of money to liberal politicians. They could care less about the kids. I am a teacher and we are paid very well and have great benefits because very few people will voluntarily babysit this generation of thugs, welfare recipients and ignorant children. School choice is a step in the right direction. It's time to stop holding the good kids back. And please don't blame middle class working America because these minority children have no role models or direction. Look in you own backyard before you blame others.
I know more teachers with their children in private schools who are up in arms over school choice. Makes no sense.
You failed me. I'm glad now you opened you mind. Little to late.

It is your family that has failed you, not I or the countless other educators - as a community and nation, we must stop complaining how others have failed us and look to ourselves - the world is a difficult place at best, and it owes none of us anything.
