Joint Statement from Queen Anne’s County Public Schools and Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office

“Drug Scans”

Drug detection dog scans were performed today at Queen Anne’s County High School and Kent Island High School involving various Queen Anne’s County and allied law enforcement agencies. The Queen Anne’s County Public School system is dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment for all students to succeed. Drug-sniffing dogs trained in the detection of narcotics and other illegal substances performed scans of the lockers in the hallways and the locker rooms, along with the parking lots located on school property. During the drug detection dog scans, students remained in their classrooms while instruction continued.

If any controlled dangerous substances are found, the student who is in possession of it will be brought to an administrative office and subjected to further questioning and search. Penalties will include suspension and the possibility of expulsion from school. Please understand that the goal with this initiative is not to 'catch kids,' but rather to send a powerful message that we will not accept the presence of drugs at Queen Anne’s County High School.
Our ultimate intent is to maintain the integrity of the educational process and to keep students safe. The disruptions and the dangers caused by drugs being present in our school are unacceptable. Our paramount concern is for the safety of our students. Searches are never on a set schedule and their date is never revealed to students in advance.

I'm pretty sure the intent is to "catch kids".
WTF?

Why would they make a stupid statement like that?
Of course the intent is to "catch kids" without a search warrant.

No search warrant needed. The students do not own the lockers. The county owns the lockers and the county has granted permission. MORAL OF STORY: Don't bring illegal drugs to school and you will not have a worry.

I don't own my safety deposit box but they need a warrant to open it.

Atleast they alerted parents ...unlike Salisbury Christian school that had a drug arrest of a student during school hours on school property, with students watching, weeks ago and have yet to alert parents... pretend it never happened.. yeah that helps the students!!!!!

8:25 moral of the story, you have no rights in school.

Moral of the story, cops are here to ruin your life, not help serve or protect it... That's why you always see 5 to 6 cops show up for one man during a traffic stop or just walking down the street, then stand together for 20 minutes trying to find something they can pin on the guy... Or why cops say you are resisting or being combative or unruly or uncooperative when you invoke your rights that they said they would uphold... Cops get so damn mad when you use your rights it is so funny... All that roid rage...

The goal is absolutely and undeniably to catch kids. What else do they think is gonna happen?

Yes, don't bring drugs to school... if you do you are an idiot, but have the decency not to lie to us about your intentions. It's like you are calling us stupid to our faces.
