Four People Taken To Hospital After Collision On Bay Bridge

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Maryland Transportation Authority Police says four people were taken to the hospital after a three-car accident on the Bay Bridge. It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
MDTA Police says three cars were involved in a collision, with two people being airlifted to Shock Trauma with serious injuries, and two other people were taken by ground to Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge were shutdown for about three hours, causing major backups. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Still would like major SHA discussion of another crossing further south

- Calvert County/Lusby area (Route 4) across to Taylors Island near state route 16 below Cambridge. Understand lots of wetlands/conservation areas, but at the end of the day, traffic needs to move as well as getting goods/services to the eastern shore and MD biggest summertime money maker (OC).

- North Beach/Chesapeake Beach area to Tilghman's Island state route 33 - way east of Easton, causing LOTS of construction needed for state route 33.

SOMETHING needs to be done and another (3rd span) Chesapeake Bay Bridge at the current location won't really help with the roads it would dump into on Kent Island or going west toward Annapolis. New bridge further south would be a long term (50-75 year) solution.

And please do the math on that, 50-75 years MOST of us will not be here so its about making things better for the future...ala PAYING it FORWARD...maybe (ha).

HAPPY NEW YEAR
