A Viewer Writes: Sean Gerity

Thought you may find this an interesting read.

This individual, Sean Gerity, was living in Ocean City, while he was doing business in DE, well, his version of business, billing money from people.

There is a dedicated blog that has a lot of information, buildtrend blog

Sean was arrested in Ocean City on Nov 30 (I believe), and was extradited to DE where he was arraigned and released on bail.

Now the Commonwealth of PA has brought forth another lawsuit against him.

The Lancaster Newspaper article listed his address in Ocean City, however he skipped out on his rental and is living in a Days Inn Hotel in Lancaster PA. He also dumped the Jeep he was driving and has now rented a Ford Explorer. The Jeep is trying to be repossessed if they can find it.

His fiance has returned to Romania. Sean is under the illusion he can waltz into court and buy his passport back. He is looking for a way out of the country so he can marry his fiance, take her last name and live I. Romania, the Ukraine or Spain.

Sean owns TIG Construction and Bay Breeze Exteriors. He is not supposed to be involved in the construction business in DE or PA but that hasn't stopped him. He feels like he is above the law.

He is now using a subcontractor to be the front man for his businesses and it's unfortunate that this subcontractor doesn't have a clue that Sean is using him.

This is a huge story that has affected Sussex County, Wicomico and Worcester Counties and well as Pennsylvania.

Thank you Joe!!! By the way, it's Gerety not Gerity.

From public records: bankruptcy filings from 9/30/15 by his construction company show tangible assets of less than $4,000 and liabilities of $1,364,988. Got that? He made off with more than a million three hundred thousand dollars in cash and goods and services. Then, his bankruptcy attorney quit because the judge found he was hiding assets.

Then, he lied under oath and said his new company (TIG Construction)was defunct and not operating when in fact it was and continued to operate until this past summer. Again, public records. Angry unpaid subcontractors and stiffed homeowners started piling up. Trapped like a rat (not exactly public record, but close) he started BayBreeze Exteriors and desperately searched for a dupe to run it while he made plans to flee the country yet still control the money. Notice on his BayBreeze website, no mention of his name.

Google Sean Gerety Pennsylvania and click on the first article. I know him from his time there and it is just the tip of the iceberg. Yes, I got clipped for a little up there and consider myself very fortunate.

Now, he has a few large contracts pending in lower and mid-Delaware. As usual, he hopes to take the large upfront "deposits" as his profit and leave his current dupe, the subs, and the owners dangling. This time, though, he intends to make partial restitution in the DE criminal cases, hoping to get his passport back, fly to Europe, and never return.

The important part is, all you newspaper AND TV people read this blog. Some of you are widely read and viewed in lower Delaware. Please get the word out and help prevent any more people from getting scammed.

On 12/14/16 Coastal Services filed suit for nonpayment of subcontract services in DE. That's in addition to the nine felonies filed in DE and the lawsuit filed by the state of PA claiming numerous victims. See the DE case search. Both the attorneys general in DE and PA have issued public statements, in which they both think there are additional victims and are asking anyone with any information to contact their offices.
