State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt announced today that Deborah Rowe, Mayor and President of the Town of Marydel in Caroline County was indicted by a Caroline County grand jury with multiple counts of felony theft, one count of misconduct, one count of misappropriation by a fiduciary and two counts of forgery. The charges allege that, between March 28, 2012 and May 27, 2016, Deborah Rowe, the Mayor of the Town of Marydel used town funds for personal expenses. The total amount of the alleged thefts is just over $61,000.00.
State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt stated: “The loss of $61,000.00 to a small town like Marydel is a major blow to the finances of the town. We will continue to vigorously pursue public officials who betray their public trust.”
Although charged, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until there is a conviction.

The Fire Department was just busted by Delaware recently for mishandling funds they receive from them, since their district covers into Delaware. Might be connected.
