ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A new heated walkway is being installed at the Maryland governor’s mansion.
Doug Mayer, a spokesman for Gov. Larry Hogan, said Thursday the old walk needed to be replaced due to safety concerns. He says snow-melting cables were added to save money in the long term, because snow won’t have to be shoveled. He didn’t have an exact cost estimate, but he says it’s under $100,000.
Mayer adds that the decision was made by a department in the administration and that the governor was not aware of it.

Man how many times could a walk be shoveled for that much money?
good , now they can get rid of the people who shovel the snow , it's called justified cost savings.
The $125,000 position of Gubenatorial Snow Shoveller has been eliminated😉
Save costs? How? All the inmates working around there need to start shoveling! Hogan better stop this waste!
They must not know about you and your snow machine.
God forbid someone might have to shovel the walkway. Tax dollars at work!
3 hrs shoveling at $10/HR = 3,333 snow days. Wait. Better recalculate for being a union state employee $35/HR.
just another reason to rob from the State Retirement fund / not repay the Retirement Fund. Reasons just keep building against Hogan as a cost conserving Republican. More ammunition to see a chameleon DemocRAT.
I will gladly sign a contract to keep that walk clear of snow for 10 years for only $50,000.
I will not be voting for hogan. 0189 percent cola. Thanks for nothing Democrats all the same.
You can look all state employees pay.
