It provides for disability benefits for the Deputies, which was a top priority. In addition, it will provide competitive salaries (within the State) including pay increases that will occur over the first 4 years of the Agreement.
New to this Agreement is the introduction of the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP), which provides another path to retirement for eligible sworn law enforcement officers.
Executive Bob Culver stated, “The men and women of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office put their lives on the line every day in an increasingly more dangerous world. The county honors their commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens by offering protection for their families if, God forbid, the worst happens”

They already have disability! The state has laws covering every worker. Now the deputies get full pay if injured. Nothing protects us from a fat deputy who has a heart attack on the job! No other county employees get this protection! The people didn't vote on this! Complete bull! Bob just signed something a month ago I read. What happened to 2 yr wait before more negotiation or action? It's obvious that the deputies and Culver will do what ever without the public's best interests in mind. Typical. I guess Marty will be covered when that Salisbury cop shoots him for screwing around with his wife. Long as he's on duty!

Nobody in Wicomico County can run against Sheriff Lewis and win!!! The job is his as long as he wants it....mark my words there will be no change UNLESS HE SAYS I'M NOT RUNNING!!! Face the facts....
The people of wicomico countying voted 10 years ago to allow the deputies to engage in collective bargaining, this was what they were trying to get. It would have cost the taxpayers more money for the cough to fight it than it would to just give it to them. Plus most of this is funded by the deputies themselves. You obviously are not educating yourself on the facts!
