She Claimed to Love All Students the Same – but Nothing Prepared Mrs. Thompson for Little Teddy.

Mrs. Thompson, as she stood in front of her fifth grade class on the very first day of school, told her students a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at the children in front of her and claimed to love each of them same. But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn’t play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold “X’s” and then putting a big “F” at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child’s past records and she put Teddy’s off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy’s first grade teacher wrote, “Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners…he is a joy to be around.”

This is what I scream to the masters degree holders. More to teaching. Gotta figure out the students. Reach them. They claim they are all thugs and heathens. Not reachable or teachable. Bull. Just your getting lazier and lazier and you have all quit caring. 85% of you sicken me.

Now this is a teacher. Perhaps teachers of today can read this and follow the lead.

Pad lock the teachers lounge.
teachers lounge = gossip forum to destroy any chance a trouble kid may have.

This is a great story, and it reminds me that there are Teddys all around us. They're not all kids, either.

Every person is a unique product of circumstances and experiences, and each has their own story. It can be very rewarding if you take the time to learn who they are.

Teachers are over paid. Take their pensions.

I got teary eyed when I read the story. They asked me if I was alright, and I just told them I had allergy. I had a band teacher like this, I will never forget. He was more than a teacher, but a great friend and mentor. His name was Robert Batson at csdhs. Will never forget him!

It's obvious that none of you know what teachers do every day.
If one of your co-workers didn't have a coat in the winter, or their shoes were falling off their feet, would you buy them a coat or shoes?
If your employer required you to have your own work supplies (pens, paper, calculator, etc.) and one of your coworkers couldn't afford it, would YOU buy them?
How about if you asked a coworker to close the door and they came back with "F*** you, Bit**!....I'll F*** you up!!', would you be nice to them and ask them again, politely??
If you were told to promote a coworker even they he couldn't even write his own name, would you feel good about that?
How about some extra unpaid work? Would you take home your work and spend another 20 hours a week doing free work for your employer?
If a coworker hit you, would you just turn away and call the boss?
Teachers EARN every dollar they are paid. You don't discipline your children, check their homework, teach them respect and integrity, or even see them very much. Then you send them to school, where all that disrespect, violence, and insolence gets dropped in a teachers lap.
Its the only job I can think of where you are purposely made defenseless against any and all acts of disrespect and violence. Twenty years on the job and its all gone after you grab a kid by the arm because he's killing another kid in the hallway. Schools today aren't the "yes sir, no sir" schools of yesteryear.
They are more like a lion cage where the teacher has to control them with a soft voice. And that's all.
Heck, even the POLICE get in trouble when they show up (your child is such a wonderful kid, huh??) and handcuff a kid WHO HIT THEM!
The education system put in place by liberal ninnies who have NEVER taught, but have a degree in "education", is working out superbly, huh?
Quit blaming the teacher because your kid doesn't want to learn anything. Blame yourself.

Why do you write 5 page comments? Teachers need to be drug tested! Every teacher I have known does drugs. Fact. Keep cheering

Why do you yell through out your book. Some teachers need to be hit in my opionin.

838 I agree over paid for sure. Their pensions are killing the budget and raising taxes. Put cut or at least a freeze for 20 years.
